My understanding of this phrase has been that when you’re in trouble you just want to jump on your horse and run away, i.e. ghora re ghora! (grab your horses!), or atleast that’s the way it has been explained to me growing up I use it all the time, poor wifey hears it the most

My baba says: The full sentence was ’ GhoRa Re GhoRa Madad Khan ja GhoRa’. Madad Khan was Arghoon tax collector appointed by Nadir Shah, who use to collect toll and tax @ 50% (even in years of famine) and if a person was unable to pay he ordered for their killing. Whenever, people saw Madad Khan’s people on horse, they used to announce their presence and run away after saying these words.
