Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai...
Good job. He did a fine thing (they would have found him anyway, right ;) )
I have got a funny story for you guys. It came out of Germany a few days ago, and its kinda similar, though with a very different ending.
So a German lady found a wallet filled with 1,000 euros. I don't know where she found it - may be on a street or whatever. Anyway, she found this wallet, and it had the owner information in it. Now, if you find a wallet like that, you basically have three options
Right?
Well, wrong!
Apparently there is a fourth option, and this German lady took the fourth option. She called the owner. Told him, she has his wallet, and that she will take 100 Euros plus shipping costs to return the wallet. The owner was obviously relieved that his wallet is found. He agreed to her conditions. Then the owner called the police and the woman was arrested on charges of extortion and she is now in prison! Good god!!! I mean, if you think about, how stupid can one be? The owner may have given a gift to the person who returned the wallet, anyway. Or the woman could have just taken all of 1,000 euros, or any amount she wanted and returned the wallet; but no. She had to go the extra yard to display her idiocacy and then get caught like a moron.
Oh well!
Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai...
Some sheikh must have dropped it on his way to buy a Ferarri.
Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai…
Masha’Allah, good for him. :k:
Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai...
Teen dabby waaly, sheikhs dont travel in taxis, they own the entire company...2nd, that was no sheikh, it was Iranian visitors, read the clipping...!!!
Faisal - Well if the Iranian passengers had remembered the ID no. or the plate no. of the car, yes, he could have been caught, but there was a fat chance he wouldnt. This company has all the taxis linked to a satellite, & I doubt if they have a log of where all their cars go.
That is one funny story to tell Faisal bhai, but guess what, I was in a similar scenario inside the airport once. I found a Nokia cell phone near the police scanners. Apparently a staff(Emirati lady) had forgotten it. I was new, so I decided to wait till she calls, & I return it to her.
A few minutes later a no. pops up, I answer. I tell her I found this cell, & I would like to return it to you. It was a $300 cell, & I wasnt tempted at all. I walked to the rendezvous point & she became upset why I didn't submit it to the police, I told her clearly I wasnt aware. She took my name & said she will report it to the police, I calmly replied, go ahead, be my guest. I was not afraid, coz I didn't do anything wrong. Incidentally, I was also fasting...:(, & she didn't even say thank you.
I was upset with myself, that y did I have to do the Xtra mile & give it to her. Things like these have made me sour, but then I thought over it & I said to myself, that I didn't do anything wrong, & Allah is watching me.
Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai...
Wow..
So noone answer my Q, is it really unethical (IslamicallY) to keep what u find?
I feel if someone is stupid enough to lose their $$ like that, they dont desreve to have it :o .. then again, once my fone flel outta my pocket as I was running for hte bus, and as i walked in my door, my mom was on teh fone.. she had calld "Gar" n she was tryin to talk to my mom sayin she had found this fone, n she dint speak english (was spanish) n ammi dint speak english, so it was kinda funny.. lolz.. but she had my fone, n i went to her apartment the nxt day n got it back .. it was an old model, i think if it had been a newer one, i wud never have seen it :(
Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai...
what if YOU lost $20,000 ..... do you think it should be returned to you if you accidentally lost it?
Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai…
Erm, if i HAD 20,000 i wud do everything in my power to keep it with me… $20K is alot of money, its someones tuition, medical bills, wedding xpenses etc.. its not a fone or i-pod tht can e replaced.. :halo:
Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai...
that's not the question.......the question is: what if, through whatever bizarre circumstances, you had to carry around $20000 in your pocket....and through other bizarre circumstances you lost this $20000 ....and I found it........do you think I should return it to you?
Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai...
I wudnt lose it . simple.
Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai...
Sara, u can keep the money after 3days...!!!
Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai...
This guy once lost a really expensive phone(like worth $600 plus all the info u lose which was probably more valuable) somewhere and my brother went through the contact list and foudn his house no. and called him to get it, I think he gave em like 60 bucks but my dad made em return it to the guy :D
Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai...
No-
You try to find the owner and after one year in case of Non perishable goods and suitable time in case of persihable goods sadqa them for the benefit of owner, or use it if you need it.
Thats what i think the right ruling is, atleast this is the ruling of Imam Bihari :)
Re: This Pakistani cabbie in Dubai…
Great stuff!! :k:
