I guess its Any government's right to replace any top level personal if they are not in sync with the government on the issues. This is quite natural and having said that we should bring STOP to the practice to award friends, rishtey-daar and retired generals by making them SAFEER in different countries and organizations let alone important places like UN, USA, UK etc. SAFEERs and NUMA-IN-DAAY at these places should be career diplomats who knows what diplomacy is.
Even bright and intelligent people sometime can not be a good diplomats and proof is Hussain Haqqani. Things happened during the last visit of Yousuf Raza Gulani (aka Mr President Bush) are still fresh in minds.
Nepotism only shows how principled one is, did anyone expect any tiny amount in Zardari? I didn't. The thing which we, awaam, need to work on is keep these type of crooked and criminals from getting into such offices like President/ministers etc. By appointing rishtay-daar/dost-ahbaab on important posts without merit/qualifications Zardari has shown how important Pakistan is to him.
That's true to a certain extent but PPP also knows how to use the Sind Card when it suits them plus I am getting fed up of these 'jiye Bhutto' and 'zinda hai bhutto' slogans everywhere. It looks so immature, childish and out of place. I remember when Nawaz Sharif was reinstated as PM by the Supreme Court in 1993 BB's words were 'Punjab k Prime Minister ko bahaal/reinstate kar dia lekin Sind K Prime Minister ko nahin kiya'
I am not a bhutto supporter and the slogans are idiotic. I just wanted to note my observation that PPP seems to be the most diverse political party from an ethnic and sectarian perspective. JI may be fairly close in terms of ethnic diversity but not sectarian.
I find the entire ethnic/provincial posturing in our political arena disgusting.

and are you saying that politics over the years have not been based on ethnic affiliations?
I don't think it is right to give this appointment an ETHNIC color. PPP still has a huge support in Punjab(especially Southern), NWFP and Baluchistan. Many high level appointees are from these areas too.
It might be a question of rewarding your own friends and relatives though and obviously Zardari, the corrupt person he is, would do it again and again.
They should leave this stuff to the professionals. The idiots can stay in Pakistan and mess up the country. Abroad let the people who know what they are doing, do their job.

The Prime Minister in a parliamentarian govt is supposed to be a very strong position. What the fk is Gillani doing? I rarely see him make policy decisions. He doesn't even look like a PM. **
