Zardari seems only concerned with blessing his cronies and relatives which is contrary to the essence of democracy
It seems being a Sindhi (however incompetent or incapable he or she maybe) and being his friend automatically guarantee you a post somewhere
Most recent example is replacing Muneer Akram with Abdullah Hussain Haroon as Pakistan’s Ambassador to UN. Qualification kya hai jee…yeah you guessed it right (he is Sindhi and also a friend of Zardari’s). other examples being Fehmida Mirza (she is probably capable too) and her husband (friend of Zardari) etc.
I am not suggesting at all he is alone in this. Zia, Mush, NS etc. all had their favourites and pets but Zardari seems to be overdoing it.

Abdullah Hussain Haroon has been appointed as Pakistani Ambassador to the United Nations replaced Munir Akram.
Akram’s contract was prematurely terminated following strong differences between him and Pakistan President-elect Asif Ali Zardari over asking the United Nations to appoint an independent commission to hold an inquiry into the assassination of PPP leader Benazir Bhutto.
The former Pakistan Prime Minister was killed after addressing an election meeting in December last year.
The change was made ahead of an expected visit by Zardari to the United Nations to address the 192-member General Assembly on September 25.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is slated to set out New Delhi’s agenda for the annual session and beyond on September 26.
Akram along with some senior Pakistani Foreign Ministry officials was against involving the world body as they felt it would compromise the country’s sovereignty and force the government to open some confidential files to the investigators, sources said.
Akram was a career diplomat but Haroon is a politician having held, among other, the post of speaker of the provincial Sind Assembly. Haroon is also a close friend of Zardari.
Munir Akram’s appt by Musharraf was also pretty shady. He was also later accused of assaulting his girlfriend by the NY police, but had diplomatic immunity.

But that surely is n't right and I am afraid that is how it's coming across to everyone. I know everyone has their favourites but your friends, relatives etc. should atleast be competent and deserving people. When undeserving and incompetent people such as Rehman Malik etc. are given top positions just because of some personal affiliation it really sucks
My only problem is giving this kind of favouritism an ETHNIC name. As far as I know, many punjabis have been put on some important positions replacing the favourites of last govts. So should we also say punjabis are zardari's favourites? It's just the game of contacts. Uska bhai, beta, chacha, khalu and sh!t like that. Nothing to do with being sindhi / punjabi / balochi / whatever.
When Democrats lose an election the Repulbican President appoints his own team and the Democrats are fired. When Democrats lose the Democrats are fired and Republicans appoint their people. This is how democracy works. These appointments are not inherited by anyone. The same thing happens in England and any other democracy in the world.

Rehman Malik is not Sindhi. Neither are 90% of the federal cabinet.
PPP stronghold is Sindh, or course some appointees would be Sindhi.
Don't forget Mush appointing a 'fellow Mohajir' as Governor Sindh, a man who had a number of murder cases against him. He also filled senior military positions with 'fellow Moahjirs'.
United Nations is a toothless...corrupt club of 5 bandits...pursuing their own interests...so its not important who represents Pakistan...what a waste...lol
PPP is anything but an ethnic party. As a matter of fact, parliamentary and presidential elections of 2008 have shown that PPP is the largest and only party with representation in all four provinces. As for only sindhis getting the influential positions, the argument is half-baked. You dont have to search far and wide, our PM Gillani is Panjabi not sindhi.
PPP may be the strongest party in Sindh, but its def more inclusive in its makeup than other parties, maybe JI etc come close but def not anp, mqm, pml-n or i suppose even pml-q.
That's true to a certain extent but PPP also knows how to use the Sind Card when it suits them plus I am getting fed up of these 'jiye Bhutto' and 'zinda hai bhutto' slogans everywhere. It looks so immature, childish and out of place. I remember when Nawaz Sharif was reinstated as PM by the Supreme Court in 1993 BB's words were 'Punjab k Prime Minister ko bahaal/reinstate kar dia lekin Sind K Prime Minister ko nahin kiya'

Yaar Real Deal I know Maliks are not Sindhis :). That is why I gave that specific example. I was not trying to give an ethnic colour to the debate. Ambassador bhai sahab kuch aur samajh bethay. The main issue is nepotism or favouritism here
