disclaimer: this is not to discourage anyone from buying copies - Prototype and Catwalk do EXCELLENT jobs of copying outfits. I’d like to just serve as an example and the lessons I learned during my personal experience. As you’ll read, in the end, I’ve decided to get both of my wedding outfits made from Proto.
Also, MODs: please move my post if need be - I am unsure of where to place it.
If you have family or friends who are truly talented and have an eye for making copies that suit your taste, by all means, do it! But for those of us who do not and have to resort to either taking a risk and buying from an unknown source, please proceed with caution. Again, thankfully, we have professionals like Prototype and Catwalk
Some facts:
Date I decided which outfits I wanted copied:Feb 2012
Date I was given these Pictures: June 2012
What happened in the meantime (I assumed my outfits were already halfway done): nothing (as you can see, only sample pieces were made)
Loss - all of the material bought for my valima and ruksati outfit - I dont know the dollar amounts at this point but that kapra is a complete waste with respect to my bridal order - I will try to get something else made out of it in the future.
I will let the pictures below speak for themselves. For the first two attempts - I was quoted a price of $800. For the last attempt, I was quoted a price of $1600 from kekeshaan - Technically, a family friend was quoted this price as I do not live in Karachi.
Here is the original - I’ve posted this picture other times in hopes of finding a full length:
I’ve already blogged about it but again - no detail…just the basics as to what exactly happened on my blog but wanted to provide pictures for those only interested just that.
Guys, this is just for your help - I dont want to offend anyone but I also dont want any other bride to go through what I have been through over the last six months. Please save yourself and go with a designer and if you cant afford one, go with someone who has experience making bridals!

^I really like Proto's work too, am gonna order something when she starts taking orders again after Eid! I saw a couple of her Bunto replicas which were formal outfits, and was quite impressed

Proto's work is amazing!! I ordered an Umar Sayeed replica (what Vaneeza wore on her wedding) and I am so impressed with quality of work and attention to detail. Her stitching is so neat. The whole dress turned out so elegant and rich looking.
Re: This is what happens when you try to get a dr. haroon copy made
for everyone who commented on Proto's excellent outfits, a big THANK YOU! that makes me feel sooo much better with my decision to go with her. Now pray that she can get both made in time lol.

mizzim :O
omg .... i dont ...... have ....... words.
something happened to my mehndi outfit too and i have to remake one all over again .. proto you might get another email ... :s
where have you been?????? I sent you an email a while ago! lol. Man, I wish I had gone with my gut instinct - I even talked to Dr. Haroon last November and he was ready to make both of my outfits.
I wish I had NEVER listened to my mom lol...she's the one who swayed my initial gut feeling that I should just go with him. I really really wish I had.
Totally not worth saving a bit of money for the stress and heartache!
