mizzim i just got back from lahore .. was there for 10 days to prep and all .. i must say .. nothing was as hard as the clothes .. cuz firstly .. nothing happens on time .. secondly .. they freakin screw EVERYTHING up .. thts what happened to my mehndi outfit tryna do the same and save myself from spending loads of money on an online order :(
now im left with even more money lost ..

I couldn't agree more with your last sentence, this is not just to you but anyone out there who wants to look beautiful (yes, we all do) if you girls like a certain designer and their style/cuts or whatever, have a talk to them so they can work within your 'budget' to make you something on time and actually worth wearing than these 'chugahl khur' vendors sitting in some bazar
cheaper route doesn't cut it anymore, you are compromising your time/money and that never going away feeling where you can just kick yourself over and over!

I don't think the problem is getting a copy made, it's when you leave it to people who don't know what they are doing, wrongly assuming it's a simple task.
Did this friend have any experience in successfully getting copies made? I doubt it. Therefore she did not know what karigaars to go to or how to get them to do the work properly. Karigaars who are sensible and can copy work from photos accurately are far and few between. Some because they just cannot replicate the level of intricacy and neatness, others because they are just plain bad and will use wrong kaam materials or colours.
You cannot just expect some random karigaar to do a good job. The market they cater for doesn't necessarily have a lot of money and they don't ask for copies of designer outfits.
As you said, go with someone with a proven track record of making the kind of outfit you want and/or well made copies.
Lastly, for an accurate replication of designer kaam, expect to pay a decent sum!

No, my friend had no prior experience working with bridals - she had never even heard of kekheshan so I think that pretty much sums it up.
I would have paid $$$$ for a copy but the guy who told her he makes copies was clearly ripping her off and on top of that, she should have done her homework.
Go with people whose copies you've seen - and you know what, I dont care if it's designer or not - all I have access to from the states is the pictures i see and most are designer things....if little mom and pop shops started showing their OWN designs, I'd probably like some of theirs just as much as designers.

Kehkashan is in clifton, opposite gulf. It is the oldest place where extremely experienced karigars have their shops since decades now. It is also slightly more pricey compared to karigars sitting in gulf,or ghousia market in gizri, or kurtuba in bahadarabad or paposh elsewhere in the Karachi.
I doubt it was done in kehkashan and if it was then this is a pure shocker and as what you got is eons away from the real thing. This is an amateurs job and is despicable.
