Re: This is really really silly but talk some sense into me ( rishta scenario)
He found the joke RUDE? Was he PMSing? It seems like the man has no sense of humor whatsoever. Honestly, if you feel like you can’t be yourself when you are talking to him, then it is not going to work out. So I’d suggest continue to be yourself, humor and all, and see if he’s man enough to take it. If not, c’est la vie. There’s plenty more fish in the sea.

and I am a brit married to a yank for over a decade and she still makes fun of my choice of words and phrases. I have been here long enough that my speech is mostly american, but anytime I am on the phone with my brit pals, bros etc..she mocks me using very monty pythonish accent and phrases mixing yob with some old fogie ..like
oi guvner', I am getting my brolly from the boot of the lorry, I dont want to my plimsols to get wet cheerio old chap. etc etc ..etc
Re: This is really really silly but talk some sense into me ( rishta scenario)
I think that is a little bit rude but then it depends on how you said it...over text/IM, it can sound rude but in person, with the tone and all, perhaps not.

Thank You. I really appreciate your advice. :)
you are welcome.. but me, your best mate, someone here...we are not there, and we are not you..
in the end what we say does not matter either way, your life, your choices, your preferences..
just because some random dude on an online forum AKA me finds his actions strange means zilch really
thats why I said, get other perspectives here on what to maybe look out for,
but in the end, trust your instinct.. dont let statements from others cloud it.

Sup Inspiron. If ya think about it Passionate has good points. People should have some sort of humor. Anyway..it is up to ya yo. If ya can see..he can live with ya then go ahead..

I dont know how it can be considered rude whether it was text or in person. It's not like she said it in response to him pouring his heart out about a bad childhood or work woes or an illness. He was talking about not being able to go to the movies for christ's sake.
Re: This is really really silly but talk some sense into me ( rishta scenario)
Growing up in LA/OC, I've had to explain to EVERYONE that no not everyone lives like "Real Housewives", "The OC", etc. And I had to travel out of state to the South a few months ago and OMG, culture shock for sure. So don't worry about it. It's not too big of a deal. Especially if everything else is okay

Tea and crumpets?!
Omg I love it…you should totally shock him one day with a phrase that makes absolutely no sense to anyone here.
Okay well don’t do that part but seriously…crumpets?!
So I met someone from Texas a few weeks ago and the first thing I did was look at his shoes… I was expecting cowboy boots but I think his were from Nordie’s.
What?! No kangaroos?
I don’t think that’s rude…maybe a bit direct for some people but its not rude. It also depends on what part of the States he lives in.
I was laughing at the screen at that one.
Okay so cultures vary even in the same country. People think Chicagoans are cranky, always in a hurry and fat. Its not true.
When I went to see my sis recently in Boston…I was in love with the city but not the people. They came off as sooooo rude and snobby. But you get used to it and start to understand them more with time. You even start to like some characteristics.
You will learn his humor and he will learn yours…no one is a perfect match right off the bat.
