Are you a major sports fan and open to loving football (“American” football)? If not, then this part would worry me a lot more than that humor issues. I know some really hardcore football fans who do this religiously…and in cases where the spouse doesn’t share that passion, issues arise.
As others have already mentioned…you’re being nitpicky. It’ll take time for both of you to understand each other. Although both of us grew up in the U.S., many times my hubby doesn’t get my humor and gives me a blank stare when I make a joke. 
Look at the big picture and focus on other things that will have a much bigger impact on your daily life if you were living with him. Good luck!!!
