Third Test -- Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

Re: Third Test -- Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

only two good things have come out of this series. salman butt and danish kaneria

Re: Third Test – Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

As expected, Kamal would be dropped for ODIs and send back to Pak. If I were selected, Kamal would have played all tests and ODI in last one year.

hmmm....

Re: Third Test -- Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

It is shoaib akhtar's attitude which is so disgusting...what was his role in this whole test match......absloutly nothing......now dont give me excuses that he bowled really well in second test match...it is his professional responsibility to bowl with full passion in every test match....he is getting paid for it.....He was so dead in this whole match.....he is a freakin loser.....that is what he is....If you are not fit, then for god sake dont play...and by the way, who is responsible for his fitness.....i believe shoaib himself is responsible for it.....in 8 years he played 35 test matches....what a joke....did anyone see his attitude when he came to bat today.......and nawab sahib did not come to bowl either....what kind of message is he conveying to young lads...LOSER....whatever

Re: Third Test – Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

I said so earlier since I know that PCB will drop him for his first innings performance once again. He doesn’t seem to be on selector’s good book for some really weird reason. Those morons will give Imran Farhat 25+ chance in which he will make one century and 3 50s and will throw his wicket like a tailender in the rest of the 20 innings. And yet again, he will be found in the team despite of his pathetic perfomances. Where we know where Asim stands when it comes to test cricket. He has all what test cricket demands. He is the player of five day game. If he can stick to the wicket for half day with tailenders, imagine what he can do with Younis and Yohanna around. Probably play the whole day and destroy the bowling completely. This is what Ponting did, this is what Langer did in the first test. But at last I think we are not in that bad position for test cricket. With the following batting lot, we have good choices.

Those who are IN these days:
Butt
Yasir
Younis
Yohanna
Inzimam
Asim

Backup:
Taufeeq Umer
Faisal Iqbal
Bazid Khan

On the bowling side:
Danish
Actor
Shabbir
Umer Gul

…will be supported by Either Afridi or Sami (a good test player) depending on the pitch condition.

I will not play any allrounder in test at all. Only specialist solid batsmen with good temprament. And regular bowlers who can give some resistance with the bat as well. Sami, Shabbir, Asif are good examples of such late players.

This test team can beat India, WI and Saffies. England will also have hard time to destroy this lineup since a lot of players will have county experience as well.

Re: Third Test -- Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

as expected Pakistan lost all three matches, at least in the last match they put up some sort of resistance instead of the abject surrender we faced in the first two matches. It is really a shame that Asim Kamal is being treated badly. He should have been retained to play ODI's.

On the plus side we have discovered a good opening player in Salman Butt. Yasir seems to have come back in form. Danish is fast becoming a very good bowler.

Poor fitness remains one of our main problems. Inzi, razzaq, Shoaib, Sami and Malik, all of them missed tests due to fitness. Shoaib once again failed to play a whole series without breaking down. We heavily rely on him and it si his duty to keep himself fit.

It is a real shame that we were never able to stretch Aussies into the fifth day in any of the matches.

Oh well now on to the ODI's. I feel we will perform better in these than the test matches.

Re: Third Test – Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

**Australia complete series sweep **](BBC SPORT | Cricket | Other International | Australia complete series sweep)

Third Test, Sydney, day four (result): Australia 568 & 62-1 bt Pakistan 304 & 325

Australia defeated Pakistan by nine wickets in Sydney to complete a 3-0 series victory.

Pakistan, continuing on 67-1 overnight, posted 325 all out in their second innings and the home team quickly scored the 62 runs needed for victory.

Asim Kamal top scored for the visitors with a well-made 87, but Australia were always in control after building a first-innings lead of 264.

And on a turning wicket Shane Warne took 4-111 and Stuart MacGill 3-83.

Australia took three wickets during the morning session to reduce Pakistan to 172-4, still 92 runs behind the home team’s first-innings total.

It seemed at one point as though stubborn resistance would limit the visitors to the loss of Yasir Hameed during the first session of the day.

But with lunch approaching the Australians swung the balance of the session in their favour with two wickets in two balls.

Yousef Youhana was bowled by MacGill for 30 before Younis Khan was trapped lbw to Shane Watson to become the all-rounder’s first Test victim.

**After lunch Shahid Afridi was run out after a typically aggressive innings and his dimissal was sparked a fall of five wickets for 32 runs as the Pakistan lower order again threatened to capitulate. **

At one point they had been reduced to 270-9 after steadily losing wickets throughout the afternoon session.

Shortly before the scheduled tea interval Australia claimed the extra half hour as they went in search of victory.

But Asim Kamal, partnered by Mohammad Asif, who scored his first runs in Test cricket, put on 55 for the last wicket to set Australia a meagre target for victory.

Jason Langer and Matthew Hayden wasted no time in setting about the victory target, thrashing a series of boundaries.

With victory just four runs away Langer was bowled sweeping around his legs and new batsman Ricky Ponting smashed the next delivery to the boundary to seal victory.

Re: Third Test – Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

ummm…looking at the team’s progress for sometime now, anyone watching these games can tell you the fact that Pakistan has long way’s to go to develop a test match which would beat India and England…Yes in a one day, they have a really good chance, but test cricket is completely different plate…let’s see time will tell..

Re: Third Test -- Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

Shoaib was resting on the final day of 2nd test becasue he wanted to give "100%" in 3rd test and now he was resting on the final day of the 3rd test because he wanted to give "100%" in the ODI series and did not want to bowl in a "already lost match". In 3 simple words this can be described as unprofessional, disgusting and pathetic !

Previously from time to time i have mentioned that we dont need Holy Cow in our team. Instead of him, we need a bowler who playes whole game (and not partial) and have positive attitude towards the game itsself even if we are loosing.

I dont know what the hell selectors and board were thinking when they dropped Asim Kamal from the team. Had he been given half the number of chances Imran Farhat has been already given tu kahaan ka kahaan pohench chuka hota.

Re: Third Test -- Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

Oh well now on to the ODI's. I feel we will perform better in these than the test matches.

In this series, I have often said that bat the innings like an ODI, make some 600-700 runs in 100 overs or so...because we all go to get out sooner or later...

Re: Third Test – Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

Shabash Shoaib for not bowling, please save your energy for ODIs, or yet save your engergy for your girlfriends. You are a hero, we should dedicate a mountain for you, or better yet “mount” you on a mountain and leave you alone.

Nice batting by the inexperienced ones! Good to see Yasir performing per his class. Good fight by Asif :k: This is the spirit we need in ALL players.

Re: Third Test – Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

are you Afridi’s bhai or what? our players have problem playing “bad” balls and you want to score 6+ which means hit the good balls too? What do you drink/smoke?

Re: Third Test – Pakistan vs. Australia at the SCG

i was very pleased to see our lads especially afridi and kamal play very sensibly and build a gr8 partnership, both frustrated mcgill and warne and hit some marvelous shots, i was happy to see us avoid a innings defeat and we at least made the cocky aussies bat again.

onto the vb series now, come on lads more like our domain
