I think it was the height of feminism behind birth of Ganesha. His mother Parvati created him without her husband Shiva and not knowing that Ganesha is son of Parvati, Shiva got killed (beheaded) Ganesh and then replaced His head with that of an elephant.

True. What i find more fascinating which few in India seem to actually ponder over is the actual deep meaning behind the stories or behind such images. Like the cut head is about getting rid of ego to understand a higher power when it comes knocking on our door etc. Also, the more i look into ancient pakistan the more interesting things i find. Panini | History of Ancient Pakistan One of the greatest Sanskrit grammarians was Pakistani in origin and went by the name of Panini. Also i find the Sufi spirituality of Sindh quite beautiful.
