Re: Things that make you even more proud of being a Pakistani :)
i will try to help out here because none of the things posted so far are really points of pride. crickets are chirping in this thread.
while it may be a monumentally difficult task to come up with reasons to be proud to be pakistani, it's a little easier to point to some individuals you can be proud of:
nusrat fateh ali khan
ghulam ali
imran khan (as a cricketer)
abdus salam

This was his last sms before going for the operation in Swat.
The message which now in circulation among all cellular phone holders in Pakistan is spreading like a fire reads, “
In da Roars Of Bullets…in da thunder of bombs…There are a few who just don’t stop…knowing dat dey r surrounded by death,…,…knowing dat dey could leave their wives widow nd children orphan"DEATH B4 DISGRACE PAK ARMY!ZINDABAD!!!"
Re: Things that make you even more proud of being a Pakistani :)
My passport, My Identity, giving me a place to stand and build are these not enough to make anyone proud...
Every country have problems, half of the countries registered with UNO are having separation movement going on... other half have their fair share of problems, so do we, but as a nation who have country like India as their neighbor, who have been in direct conflict with a Super-Power and have them on their knee in Afghanistan.. the country who have safe-guarded its defense to a level where the enemy of Pakistan even after moving 1 Million armed personnel ( highest in the known history of the men, followed by 6 or 7 hundred thousand by Crusaders against Malik Adel and 4 or 5 Hundred thousand in the command of Lion-Heart Richard against Salahuddln) to its border they never dared to attack...
Economy wise we are not that bad as well, with the so-called war and 2 national disaster ( earth-quick 2005 and flooding of 2010) in a decade we are still in top 30s... which can further be improved we have yet to get a visionary and dedicated leadership in the country...
Re: Things that make you even more proud of being a Pakistani :)
Well I am proud of being a Pakistani even with all the negativities surrounding it...
1) I am proud of pakistan's rich cultural and historical heritage (Indus Valley civilization (Moenjadaro and Harrapa), Gandhara Civilization (Taxila), Moghul architecture, and then British architecture...
2) I am proud of the ethnic diversity that we have in Pakistan
3) I am proud of the pakistani food, mangoes, basmati rice, oranges etc...
4) I am proud of pakistan being the only muslim nuclear country
5) I am proud of my country's educated people (doctors, engineers, IT professionals and others serving around the world and making their country proud)
6) I am proud of Abdul Sattar Edhi and all others carrying out welfare services in Pakistan
Pakistan has a lot of resources like copper, gold in Balochistan and North Waziristan, coal in Sindh and many many resources which I am sure have not been explored yet, the area has a strategic location and if propely utilized it can become a gateway between central asia and the rest of the world...we just need sincere leaders with vision who can turn the country around...Pakistan is lucky to have beautiful and diverse landcapes like deserts, plains, mountains, glaciers and coastal areas...

Reko Diq: Pakistan risks squandering billions in questionable deal
KARACHI: In what is being described as the most unfair business deal of the decade, the multi-billion-dollar Reko Diq copper-and-gold project has been placed at the mercy of a consortium of companies who may walk away with its riches, robbing the country of a golden opportunity to lift itself out of its growing external debt.
The consortium will take away 75 per cent of the income while the Balochistan government will get a paltry 25 per cent of share from the project as part of the terms of agreement.
Geologists have estimated that Reko Diq contains mineral deposits worth $500 billion and if the authorities did not take action immediately, this golden opportunity of turning around Pakistan’s fate will be lost.
LAHORE - Nuclear scientist Dr Samar Mubarikmand has disclosed that copper mines and gold reserves have been located in North Waziristan.
Addressing the ninth convocation of the Government College University, he said that Pakistan was one of the richest countries of the world in terms of mineral reserves and proper exploration was needed in this regard.
“If we put steps in the right way, Pakistan would be a developed state in next 10 to 20 years,” he said.
He said that according to recent evaluation, the copper and gold reserves in Balochistan are amounted to 273 billion dollars and the same kind of reserves had also been discovered in North Waziristan.
**Dr Samar said that despite the fact that our coal reserves were located in powder form under water, Pakistan could produce 50,000 megawatt electricity and 100 million barrel diesel just through the gasification of these reserves. **
