**1st of all, only 5% Muslims are practicing Islam and rest of them are just Muslims by name. **Majority of Muslims have very little understanding of Real Islam. They are only Muslim because they were born in Muslim family.
Why do you care? Those who are practicing Islam doesn't care about it.

No doubt you are genius , but you being genious does not mean that we will take the stats at your face value which you pulled out of your hat.
So where did you pull these stats from ?
Re: Things Muslims need to get rid of
some of the things mentioned in this thread does need to get rid of. But then again, every scholar will have its own say to it. It is impossible to have all sects of Islam agree to something one considers biddah or not acceptable. This is where Muslim feel the need to have a person appointed by Allah who bring the true Islam back. The one brought by Prophet Muhammad PBUH.
Here is the thing : Scholars will tell you about Islam and how they understood it based on how they think is right. Whereas, a person appointed by Allah will get the knowledge from Allah the almighty and deliver the right message of Islam to you. You pick which way you want to go for. Scholars who 'think' its the right interpretation of Islam , or the person who is appointed by Allah to show you the true Islam.

Peace All
I am sorry to focus on this topic but really ... the Sun and the Moon are signs of God ... as are the stars ...
The symbol of Islam is our role model Sayyiduna RasoolAllah Muhammad (SAW)
Green and white were favoured by him (SAW)
Black is the colour of the banners from the East
If you look in the archives I had very different views regarding the Crescent and Star symbol especially due to it's association with Masonic symbolism ... In fact the countries which have these symbols on their flags are .... Secular Muslim states ... it's almost as if it is showing that Masonic influence has led to the establishment of that state ... and no question in it every flag that bears this symbol reflects this ... yes ... even Pakistan ...
However, my views have become tempered with time and my initial shock has turned into careful thought ...
Eye4Eye ... if you were charged by a hypothetical Islamic state to create a flag/ a banner for the Muslims ... what would you put on it?
If the Sun reminds us of prayer with it's position in the sky and the Moon reminds of fasting and the months with it's phases ... the stars give us direction to the Qiblah and on our journeys then surely all these have great significance because they all help us with our religious duties ... The favourite colours of our role model (SAW) and those black banners ...
I think there are more important things to get rid of ... the one thing I am trying to get rid of is ... condeming others on impulse or partial knowledge and wisdom. Pray for me.

brother no one not even scholars can claim to have perfect knowldge. So I do undertsnad the reason behind your saying this but if we abandon criticism of others than the principal of enjoining good and forbiding evil will become extinct. We have examples from salaf ( and many of them didnt even have formal religious training) criticized even each other if they thought it was appropriate.
We should not get carried away by it either and condemn actions not individuals but simply being passive will allow whole society to degenrate.

Allah (SWT) forbid I didn't claim that I sought perfect knowledge. Rather it was a need to observe my etiquettes with people. Not to talk on matters on which I have no authority. I can stop my son for example from littering in the streets, because the extent of my authority encompasses his actions, however, to criticise others on their practices based on semi-formed reasons from our own perspectives is not good criticism. We should leave some things to scholars as is their remit as authorities over us in knowledge. Afterall we quote them when they issue verdicts.
Simple well constructed and wise ways to criticise others can be done, however we should be more concerned with what we know to be true is actually true first. I don't mean this in the sense of absolute knowledge, but as fas as is possible for human capability to extend we should do this.

true but criticism based on the opinion of experts should not be withheld , otherwise we are encouraging the wrong practices

Yes indeed its the duty of the scholars first and foremost but where are the ibn hanbals and qutbs of our age ? why have the religious scholars become so complacent and indifferent ?

Absolutely I agree with that.
Re: Things Muslims need to get rid of
We need to get rid of the sentiments that anything remotely unislamic in our minds has to be gotten rid of.
We need to incorporate many western values (which were Islamic to begin with) into our culture instead of getting rid of things and being ultimately empty.
Re: Things Muslims need to get rid of
secular dictatorships and democracies the BIGGEST problem of our world
Agreed.
Oh and:
1) Arrogance - all bad things seem to flow from this.
2) The inability to moderate our own speech - the majority of our daily problems seem to be caused by things we say.
3) Trying to hide our Muslim-ness.
Things muslims need to get rid of:
1) Live and let live ie don't impose your narrow minded opinions on others. Yes I know that if i dont pray 5 times, I will go to hell. So no need to remind me, I'll just take that risk.
2) Instead of hoping for a glorious after-life (72 virgins or what not), try to better the life you already have. As a society/nation, try to invest more effort and time in science and technology. In due time and effort, who knows one of us might come up with soloutions to our great problems (ie cure cancer, alternative energy etc). I wish I could live long enough to see that day, but probably won't.
3) NO voilence in the name of religion (ie no burning of shops for just some dumb cartoons)

2s)
that muslims can NEVER do if we do that then islam is finished

I second that

good point
most muslims have started hating westerners

If I were to create a flag it wouldn't matter if it was blue, green, brown or pink. This is a political issue rather than religious.
There are more important things to get rid of I agree, but that doesn't mean we should ignore the smaller issues. It's like trying to control murderers and rapists but neglecting the other criminals.
Re: Things Muslims need to get rid of
I don't think it's just a political issue - we Muslims should unite under one flag - that of Islam.
I think the 'flag' of Islam (which transcends man-made geographical borders) should bear the shahada.
Would Muslims argue over that symbol?
One thing we need to get rid of is the whole culture of keeping restricitions on a man and his wife after nikkah if rukhsati has not been done yet. Many times I've heard of the interaction between the husband and wife being restricted or completely discouraged while the girl is free to mingle with her male cousins to whom she isn't even married.
Getting rid of
1) The ideology that Islam is some system that Allah has ordained us to 'enforce' on this world and belittling the importance of 'dawah' altogether.
2) The notion that Islam was spread by sword.
3) Turning a blind eye towards injustices being done around you and talking about islamic revolution.
