Things Muslims need to get rid of

LOL good one chemistry lab :hehe:

We need to get rid of ignorance - educate ourselves and our ummah. Make K-12 mandatory for everyone.

Re: Things Muslims need to get rid of

thanks Chee!

and seriously though..people need to open up their minds, then their hearts..and hopefully one day, their wallets, so they could put their money where their mouth is.

Because I'm seriously tired of people that go to masjids only a couple of times a year and complain about EVERYTHING. If only we treated our masajids like they really are - Allah's homes and people are commited to it and want to spend time there and know whats going on. Then they wont complain as much, but be eager to help out.

decorating masjid is a sign of qiyamah ...sahaba were not happy even when rulers tried to decorate masjid-e-nabawi

ibn abbas reported from Nabi saw " I have not been commanded to decorate mosques" a hadith from sunan abi dawood
in ibn majah umar b khattab reports from Nabi saw the same , and decorating mosque will be a sign of people's debauchery

Re: Things Muslims need to get rid of

secular dictatorships and democracies the BIGGEST problem of our world

Allah will burn us in hell, because of star/moon or ladies symbol's or pictures?

It's up to your brain, how you take things, but not everyone is out of their mind, period !

why do muslims have issue with everything?
its like saying green color has no place with islam and hence we should stop associating it

:k:

obviously, not everyone is out of their mind and relay on their arrogant selfish ideals

and why don’t Muslims have issues with things which are not part of Islam? As mentioned before by brother, when you associate a symbol with a religion then you are saying that is has some religious meaning, for example the cross. In fact, the idea was borrowed from Christians and replaced moon and star. Did Prophet and his companions associated moon/star as symbol of Islam or decorated the mosques? Why spend money on decorating the mosque when this money can be used to feed starving/poor Muslims around the world or used for other productive projects?

Re: Things Muslims need to get rid of

The fice-pointed star and crescent appeared on mosques and other sunni muslim structures after 1451AD. The star and crescent was used as a war banner by the Uthmani family that claimed Khilaafat in 1451.

After Mehmed II became Khalif, across the Sunni world outside of uthmani control, a common way for the local rulers and population to publically indicate their loyalty to the Khalif was to include his family's symbol on their own flags and buildings.

That is why you only see the 5-pointed star and crescent in Sunni majority countries.

:salam: Bro DR

I know that the Prophet SAW disliked anything that would distract from prayer, as goes the incident about the designed prayer cloth he SAW had. However I think the direct implication is for the musalla area, the place where prayers will be performed.

One could though question the very foundation for being aesthetic in Islam. We like to see things that please our eyes and satisfies our desires be it in the form of interior decoration, makeup, flashy dresses or anything. So what benefit do we gain from decorating a masjid versus having it plain and simple. Are we justified in decorating parts of the masjid which are not intended for prayer?

Walaikum salam bro USR,
I am not sure if I have a good answer to your question, as far as I know the decoration of mosque is condemned as a whole ( esp when we see that in time of sayyidna umar farooq when so much wealth poured in even then masjids were relatively plain).I guess its just a precaution because it leads to wastefulness.
I am not a aesthetic person myself, I have been told I have rather coarse manners ( like a bedouin) so I really cannot comment without bias on the second part of your question.

You dont know the significance obviously why muslims do it.

Unfortunately there are plenty of people who are out of their mind and take symbols and talismans to heart.

And yes, there will be people burning in hell because of star/moon, pictures and idols.

No it's not.

One is just a color, the other is used as a symbol for Islam. Islam has no symbol.

1) Ignorance

Hahaha! Actually I don't have a good answer to my question either.

I think its hard to determine to what degree of decoration, parts of the masjid are not considered exuberant. I take just the example of Kaba, can anyone here deny that some of the most luxurious and fanciful materials have been used to build, renovate and expand it. The cloth that covers the Kaba is gold-stitched. I think arguments can be made either way i.e. for and against. In the end I see it as communal responsibility. Would we allow wasteful or even simplisitic decorum of our masajid while people in our community or nation under a ruler, sit in need ... its sounds more like a choice of conscience for much part.

That maybe the case where such items hold some association with something and they take them to heart due to that.

Re: Things Muslims need to get rid of

1-'Arguing' on religion- Instead discuss in respectable, humble manner
2-Ridiculing each other

Re: Things Muslims need to get rid of

This bidah argument is also so complex and fruitless.
No one can really 'define' it universally accepted way.

People come with bida-e-hasana argument then. So why argue?

Re: Things Muslims need to get rid of

yep, i agree

1st of all, only 5% Muslims are practicing Islam and rest of them are just Muslims by name. Majority of Muslims have very little understanding of Real Islam. They are only Muslim because they were born in Muslim family.

Why do you care? Those who are practicing Islam doesn't care about it.
