Thick Cream dessert

Hi Guys … My husband went grocery shopping and came back with three large pots of Extra Thick Cream :smack:

Now I need some recipes that will utilize thick cream … this particular cream cant be whipped  so i will need recipes that use thick cream as it is …

Re: Thick Cream dessert

In Pakistan I tried something called cream chaat. And I made it at home as well (Canada). It's basically just cream (I used 35%, but you can use thick cream), sugar, and fruits. You can even add jello to it. It tastes deliciouss!

Re: Thick Cream dessert

hmm thanks so much Saks ... I will try that ... with jello , does it set easily in the fridge ? i mean does it retain its shape?

I think people in pakistan make a dessert using tea biscuits and cream .. i dont know the recipe , but does anyone know?

Re: Thick Cream dessert

do u mean the coffee, cream and biscuit layered cake type dessert? even if u dont meant this one let me knw if u want the recipe, it will help u finish the cream:D

Re: Thick Cream dessert

No, I meant just add fruit and sugar to the cream and mix it. make jello separately and add it on top, like fruit custard.

Re: Thick Cream dessert

KB, naik kaam mai dair nai karo :cb: … tell me the recipe jaldi sai ..

Saks, I get it now … the cream does tend to become slightly liquidy within two minutes of coming out of the fridge … so is this fruit trifle going to be ok ?

Re: Thick Cream dessert

Freeze it.

Re: Thick Cream dessert

oh no Brit, it loses its texture once frozen … it becomes really clumpy and ajeeb sa

Re: Thick Cream dessert

ok cb heres the recipe i dont measure so i cant tell u about the exact amount of ingredients but its flexible u wont have any problem

u need about 2-3 packets of tea biscuits

1 tsp or more instant coffee

about a cup and a half of strong brewed coffee, instant is fine too but make sure its strong like 4-5 tbs of coffee per cup

sugar about half a cup

vanilla extract

^its the basic recipe

chocolate shavings, melted chocolate or gnache (spelling) are optional.

mix cream(im assuming about 500 gr) about a tsp of instant coffee, vanilla and sugar together. taste it to check if u like the flavour and sugar. u can adjust the sugar and flavouring according to ur taste at this point.

now start layering!

dip the biscuits one by one in the brewed coffee. jst dip the bottom of the biscuit not the whole biscuit otherwise they will break off or will be too soggy. and do it quickly we dont want biscuits to abosrb too much liquid...... if that makes sense

make one layer of biscuits at the bottom of ur dish, layer cream mixture on top put on chocolate shavings. keep layering......... about 6-7 layers. cover with remaining cream mixture if u have any left or use melted chocolate to cover the whole thing and freeze! preferebly overnight. let it thaw for about 20 minutes before serving

its super easy and fattening let me know if u gain 10 pounds after eating it :@:

Re: Thick Cream dessert

forgot to ask how is the texture of the cream? like breakfast cream or half and half? if its liquidy then this recipe might not work :D but if its solid or semi solid then go ahead.

Re: Thick Cream dessert

Weird…I’ve successfully frozen and defrosted extra thick double cream. I just had to mix it really well (very slowly though) as it separates a bit but otherwise it was fine to use.

Re: Thick Cream dessert

well u can use thick cream in making butter chicken, or make a cream-based sauce for a pasta dish

Re: Thick Cream dessert

KB, yeah its not really solid or semi solid … in the fridge it looks ok but two minutes out of the fridge and it becomes liquidy .. just like custard before its set …

Sara, I like the idea… I think i will do that …how much cream can we use in butter chicken? actually could you please let me know the recipe , thanks ..

Brit, really? I tried freezing single cream and the usual double cream in the past … but they just lose their texture .. I havnt tried mixing them slowly and trying to bring it back to its original form … but in the past I use to used to whisk it lightly after defrosting it and even tried to use it in a chicken dish .. but the cream would remain separated … I mean you could feel little dots of cream.. it would never get back to its original creamy texture

Re: Thick Cream dessert

CB, why didn't you just return the three containers of heavy cream?

You can use the cream for sauces and to thicken gravies up a bit. Although I guess you wouldn't use too much since it's pretty thick to begin with. Maybe creamy soups? Or in fillings for savoury pies. Various casseroles such as lasagna....or in pasta. I guess you might be able to make creamy fillings for stuffed chicken cutlets.

Bake some cakes. And use the thick cream as an ingredient for the frosting. Spread the frosting all over the cake....get some piping bags and have some fun with decorating. Keep a cake for yourself....give some to your friends.

If you end up making a lot....giving to family/friends can alleviate that problem.

Re: Thick Cream dessert

About a cup (8 ounces).

For the recipe I normally use the shan masala butter chicken packet…I usually marinate it, bhoon it in butter (instead of oil), add a small can of tomato sauce (I usually uget teh smallest can..not sure how many ounces it is) and one cup of cream.

While it comes out alrigh TI’m getting a lil bored of it…so I’m going to use a new recipe..next time I use it ill def share it

Re: Thick Cream dessert

what'd he buy it for? maybe he has something he wants you to make but is too shy to tell you? _

Re: Thick Cream dessert

You could make Eton mess asa dessert, basically crushed meringue, cream and strawberries mixed together and spooned into a tall glass,

Re: Thick Cream dessert

thanks so much Sara, really appreciate it .. i will try this butter chicken recipe soon inshallah

Re: Thick Cream dessert

Queer :emmy: its just the way men are … they will buy anything without really thinking up the detail :naraz:

Re: Thick Cream dessert

Get yourself some malnutritioned billis and feed them them the cream. Why didn't you just return at least 2 of the cartons?
