I was telling about aunty (who didn’t like my face) incident to a guy friend (another person who knew he didn’t meet our requirements so he never tried but he knew that I knew he liked me).** So I was expecting him to sympathize and say something to make me feel better. Instead, he takes this opportunity to tell me he thinks I am a 6 out of 10 on his scale of beauty. **I stopped breathing for a second.

I hate when the relatives try to create a divide between siblings. We have one female family friend who does that. Whenever she sees my sis and I together somewhere,** she would comment only on my sister’s look and ignore me completely.** Or sometimes as an after thought she will say, oh yeah madz looks nice too. Drives my mom crazy!

One of my aunts is really pretty mA and I look somewhat like her. During summer vacations a couple years back, we were visiting my aunt and someone came by to see her. Aunt want around but this person said to me that I am a carbon copy of my aunt’s younger version. I got very happy cuz I took that as a major compliment.
Later when we were alone, my mom told my aunt what the visitor had said. My aunt goes, oh you shouldve told her dur fitteh muh meri aunt tu itni pyaari hain. And then she laughed out loud at her joke.
Mom and I didn’t find that funny. In fact, it hurt a lot. I am not sure if she said that cuz she doesn’t get along with my mom very well or if she actually took offense that I was being compared to her.
Anyhow when we came back, mom told her that I was upset my her comment. She talked to me and said ok next time you can tell people that you are much prettier than your aunt

I’m no expert but my inner shrink would say there’s much to be said about how you feel about your looks.
