The worst meal you've ever had

What made it so bad…the food, the company, the location?

What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?

Re: The worst meal you ever had.

There is this little restaurant of Pakistani food in the downtown area. Since my husband is from the NWFP and this sign said that the family that owns and runs it was from there, I stopped there when I was on a break from jury duty. My husband taught me how to cook his food and he is a fantastic cook himself, I figured I would get food that I like.

It was the worst restaurant I have ever been to. It was very clean, so that wasn't a problem.

There were two women from NWFP doing all the cooking and waiting on the tables. The older woman was cooking while the younger girl was chatting away with a man at the other table about everything but work. After about 10 min, I interupted her and asked her if there was anyone else working here or just her.

She told me it was just her and went back to talking with this older white guy.

So I interupted her again, said I only had an hour and I would like to order. I gave her the order, she yelled at whoever the older lady was, and went back to talking to this man (who was a stranger to her, I was at the next table over and they were a bit loud).

When my food came out, the order was totally wrong, the bland dahl was water with a few lentils, no taste in the curry, everything was horrible and the girl was so rude. I asked her for some chutney and she handed me the small container that the man she was speaking to had been dipping food into, I was so disgusted at everything.

This is the only time in my whole life I have ever left no tip. My husband went back to that restaurant and brought me. I did not want to go, he insisted, so I brought a packed lunch. It turned out the ladies were mother and daughter and owned the restaurant. I was barely civil. At one point the girl asked me if I wanted something to eat and I told her no, I ate here last week, thank you, I brought my own this time. My husband ordered some food and had two bites and stopped.

She wasn't happy with that, but at that point I really didn't care.

Re: The worst meal you've ever had

I am craving for a hotdog now :(

Re: The worst meal you’ve ever had

This mushroom and onion thing (thing is the only word I can use to describe it) from the Living Room (the same joint you used to frequent lezza). It was meant to be a mushroom pastry type thing with sautéed onions, only all I could see was a plate of fried onions. It was eurgh with a capital E, so we left and went out for a maccies instead. You can never go wrong with McDonalds :k:

Or there was the time I went to Weatherspoon, and was served salad on a lettuce leaf. I turned the lettuce leave over and found all sorts of insects underneath it :yukh:

Re: The worst meal you've ever had

You're not allowed to slag off the Living Room! Good job that I'm a mod and can just delete your post.

Re: The worst meal you’ve ever had

I swear Lezza, I love the Living Room as much as the next person, and the food is usually lovely, but I don’t know what went wrong on this occasion. They probably had a Welsh man is as head chef

Re: The worst meal you've ever had

Don't be silly, a welshman would never cook anything that wasn't made of meat or leeks. Get real slaggy.

Re: The worst meal you've ever had

My dad once took us all to the Philippines on a vacation , ugh I had some nasty food there, even though I was 8 at the time I can still taste it. Puke.

What about you Shahreen, was it something Mr. Shaz cooked?

Re: The worst meal you've ever had

anythign ever served at a paki wedding....

Re: The worst meal you’ve ever had

Hmmmm, the onions did look suspiciously leeky … and come on, like hell would I not like fried onions, i’d eat fried anything, the bloater that i am.

Re: The worst meal you've ever had

All the months spent eating alone. Every meal was the worst of my life.

Re: The worst meal you’ve ever had

My roommates’ cooked meal :bummer:

Re: The worst meal you've ever had

If the food is good i guess its okay to bear with poor service (anybody remember the soup nazi?). This place in mississauga called Tabaq in the food court of Newin center (10/dundas). Its run by a punjabi family who take forever to take the order and then even longer to serve. But when the food does arrive it is well worth the wait.

Ideally we shouldnt be using worst and meal in the same sentence. If its food its food. Good or bad, atleast its there. We eat it and say Alhamdulillah because even if it was our only meal in two days we're still luckier that most of rest of the human race. Okay i'm going on a tangent here. Sorry.

Re: The worst meal you’ve ever had

Aww Chee, have a phool. :flower1:

Re: The worst meal you've ever had

Worst meal....ack. We were taken to one of Manhattans top steak houses, that italian place Sparks. I think i told this story before so I'm sorry if I'm repeating here. But well, I am a total steak freak, could live on it for breakfast lunch and dinner. But this place thinks that "medium well" means "burn the outside but leave the inside raw and COLD". EEWWWW. But it was kind of a business dinner and the other couple was treating so I felt really funny thinking about sending it back - the waiters were SO snobby. and the other couple was enjoying this dinner like they were in heaven so I didnt want to be a complainer. Ack. I really thought about hanging my fork over the candle flame to cook the meat a bit more but ended up just eating a 15 dollar potato. The waste of money and food made me feel ill, the steak dinner was over 100 dollars and it went in the garbage.

Lesson learned? Go to OUTBACK steakhouse!!! GREAT steaks, great people, service etc etc. and they donate to humanitarian causes too.

Re: The worst meal you've ever had

At my cousins place. She had invited us over for dinner when we last went to Pakistan and I have no idea what she did with the food but it was digusting, including the dessert. Bleah.

Re: The worst meal you've ever had

FF did u share that with her or just letting the world know :)

Re: The worst meal you've ever had

Once I was given a baked potato that wasn't quite cooked in the middle, but I still had to eat the raw potato out of politeness and it gave me a dodgy tummy.
