Interesting. Posts like this suggest that there should be a blogging section here someplace, where our members can come and blog the random thoughts which come in their minds. It will be interesting. ![]()
Its okay to admit that you're flawed i.e. you dont pray five times a day but theres no way you justify not praying. Its is the second most important pillar of islam.
If it wasn't that important, it wouldnt have been part of the five pillars of islam, i.e. Shahaadat, Salat, Roza, Zakat and Hajj.
Read up about it, that should help.
sigh i know the feelin all 2 well suroor...

**Ah, woe unto worshippers **

Yet refuse small kindnesses!
(107. Surah Al-Maa’oon)
4:103 **When ye pass (Congregational) prayers, celebrate Allah’s praises, standing, sitting down, or lying down on your sides; but when ye are free from danger, set up Regular Prayers: For such prayers are enjoined on believers at stated times. **

Sometime I think heven will be so boring place will all the pious men and Naik parween's.
I believe:
Piousness is inversely related to sense of humour
Suroor.. normally I don't post email forwards (heck, half the time I don't even open these things), but your post reminded me of this one I received today. Don't know if it will impact you or anyone, but I found it quite inspirational. Please read to the end.

He remembered his grandmother's warning about praying on time: "My son,
you shouldn't leave prayer to this late time". His grandmother's age 70
but whenever she heard the Adhan, she got up like an arrow and performed
Salah. He, however could never win over his ego to get up and pray.
Whatever he did, his Salah was always the last to be offered prayed it
quickly to get it in on time.
Thinking of this, he got up and realized that there were only 15 minutes
left before Salat-ul- Isha. He quickly made Wudhu and performed
Salat-ul- Maghrib. While making Tasbih, he again remembered his
grandmother and was embarrassed by how he had prayed. His grandmother
prayed with such tranquility and peace. He began making Dua and went
down to make Sajdah and stayed like that for a while. He had been at
school all day and was tired, so tired.
He awoke abruptly to the sound of noise and shouting. He was sweating
profusely. He looked around. It was very crowded. Every direction he
looked in was filled with people. Some stood frozen looking around, some
were running left and right and some were on their knees with their
heads in their hands just waiting. Pure fear and apprehension filled him
as he realized where he was. His heart was about to burst.
It was the Day of Judgement.
When he was alive, he had heard many things about the questioning on the
Day of Judgement, but that seemed so long ago. Could this be something
his mind made up? No, the wait and the fear were so great that he could
not have imagined this. The interrogation was still going
on. He began moving frantically from people to people to ask if his name
had been called. No one could answer him. All of a sudden his name was
called and the crowd split into two and made a passageway for him. Two
people grabbed his arms and led him forward. He walked with unknowing
eyes through the crowd. The angels brought him to the center and left
him there.
His head was bent down and his whole life was passing in front of his
eyes like a movie.
He opened his eyes but saw only another world. The people were all
helping others. He saw his father running from one lecture to the other,
spending his wealth in the way of Islam. His mother invited guests to
their house and one table was being set while the other was being
cleared. He pleaded his case, "I too was always on this path. I helped
others. I spread the word of Allah. I performed my Salah. I fasted in the
month of Ramadan. Whatever Allah ordered us to do, I did. Whatever he
ordered us not to do, I did not." He began to cry and think about how
much he loved Allah. He knew that whatever he had done in life would be
less than what Allah deserved and his only protector was Allah. He as
sweating like never before and was shaking all over. His eyes were fixed
on the scale, waiting for the final decision. At last, the decision was made.
The two angels with sheets of paper in
their hands, turned to the crowd. His legs felt like they were going to
collapse. He closed his eyes as they began to read the names of those
people who were to enter Jahannam. His name was read first. He fell on
is knees and yelled that this couldn't be, "How could I go to Jahannam?
I served others all my life, I spread the word of Allah to others".
His eyes had become blurry and he was shaking with sweat. The two angels
took him by the arms. As his feet dragged, they went through the crowd
and advanced toward the blazing flames of Jahannam. He was yelling and
wondered if there was any person who was going to help him. He was
yelling of all the good deeds he had done, how he had helped his father,
his fasts, prayers, the Qur'an that he read, he was asking if none of
them would help him. The Jahannam angels continued to drag him. They had
gotten closer to the Hellfire. He looked back and these ere his last
pleas. Had not Rasulullah [saw] said, "How clean would a person be who
bathes in a river five times a day, so too does the Salah performed five
times cleanse someone of their sins"? He began yelling, "My prayers? my
prayers?my prayers." The two angels did not stop, and they came to the
edge of the abyss of Jahannam. The flames of the fire were burning his
face. He looked back one last time, but his eyes were dry of hope and he
had nothing left in him. One of the angels pushed him in.
He found himself in the air and falling towards the flames. He had just
fallen five or six feet when a hand grabbed him by the arm and pulled
him
back. He lifted his head and saw an old man with a long white beard. He
wiped some dust off himself and asked him, "Who are you?" The old man
replied, "I am your prayers". "Why are you so late! I was almost in the
Fire! You rescued me at the last minute before I fell in". The old man
smiled and shook his head, "You always performed me at the last minute,
did you forget?"
At that instant, he blinked and lifted his head from Sajdah. He was in a
sweat. He listened to the voices coming from outside. He Heard the Adhan
for Salat-ul- Isha. He got up quickly and went to perform Wudhu.

**Prayer is not excused, not
even when a person is dying. If you can't pray
standing up, then it's commanded that you pray
sitting down, when you can't pray sitting down
then pray lying down. The bottom line is pray.
Your prayer may not matter to Bill Gates, may or
may not stop the killings/honor killings, may or
may not stop the hunger in Africa, may or may not
stop the molestation in the Archdiocese, but
it can and will do wonders for you. Try it out and see
the power and miracle of a prayer. Allah knows what's
in everyone's heart yet He demands that we pray,
because it is we who need our own prayers and
not Him. He has always been and always will be.
It doesn't affect Him. **
Re: the worse thing about me..
every thing is a test from ALLAH. He gives us (like He gave to Bill Gates) to test, to see how much we become thankful to Him and He takes away things from us to test, to see how much we trust in HIM…
Read Surah Mulk and u will know by the begining of it why life and death were created…
here is something that ALLAH is replying directly to servent of HIM like me and u suroor who have these types of questions.. see ALLAH knows us so closely, He knows what are we gonna say.. so HE gave u and me the answer 1400 years ago… Truely He loves us all:flower1:

I was wondering a little while back that when we read namaz for most part we are making dua for ourselves and even in namaz we praise God just a little. I mean we read Surah Fatiha thats a dua then durood sharif (aap ki umat pur salamti, we are ummah) and then the dua after durood. So even in namaz we are making dua for ourselves most of the time. So namaz is for our own good.
Okay I read this from a book it’s said by Hazrat Ali ibna abi Talib
Put faith in Allah, Seek His protection. Direct your prayers. Requests, solicitations and supplications to Him and Him alone. To give as well as to withhold lies in His (only in His) power.
Ask as much of His favours as you can.
Know that Allah owns the treasures of the heavens and the earth. Not only He has given permission to ask for His mercy and favours, but also has promised to listen to your prayers. He has not appointed guards to prevent your prayers reaching Him. Invoke His help in difficulties and distress. Implore Him to grant you long life and sound Health. Pray to Him for prosperity. Think over it that by simply granting you the privilege of praying for His favours and mercy, He has handed over the keys of His treasures to you. Whenever you are in need, pray, and He gives His favours and blessings.
Sometimes you find requests are not immediately granted. Do not be disappointed. Fulfillment of desires ests with the true purpose or intention of the prayer. More often fulfillment is delayed because the Merciful Lord wants to bestow upon you suitable rewards. In the meantime bear patiently hardships, believing sincerely in His help. You will get better favours, because, unknowingly, you may ask for things which are really harmful to you. Many of your requests, if granted, may bring eternal damnation.
So, at times, withholding fulfillment is a blessing in disguise.

All said and well said.
I remember a hadith that i have heard many times (i dun have a reference and meaning of which is: ) that on day of judgement, when the person will see the rewards of his/her non-granted prayers with his/her eyes, the person will pray that may none of his/her prayers were ever granted in this world...
can u explain “ungranted prayer” in light of the saying “insan key liey wohi kuch hey jis key liey uss ney koshish ki”
I mean what if someone prayed for something he didn’t try for? Will he/she still be rewarded? ![]()
thank u for the all the info n stories :-) i know u mean well.. i am just one of those confused ones i guess..
u guys never answered my second question though. :-)
First of all it’s not a saying.. it’s many places in Quran:-) but again if we are missing the context, then we will definitely become the prey of shaitan
for example:

45:22 Allah created the heavens and the earth for just ends, and in order that each soul may find the recompense of what it has earned, and none of them be wronged.
[Al-Jathiya (The Kneeling)]
u will find so many ayahs regarding all this…
what the context is the DAY OF QIYAMAH… our focus of attention is only this world now…
Please understand this and it is very important to keep in mind that WE DO NOT GET EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD THAT WE DESERVE…
u will find millions of people who deserve to have a job and dont but there are many who dun deserve an authorotative position yet they are in authority…
Therefore, we need to read surah Taghabun as well…
You are right. You can't pray until you WANT to pray. Blackmailing, shoving down hadith's and preaching down your throat, and threats of hell will not bring you the happiness people find in prayers.
All I can say is that dudette, open the Quran and just read a little. I don't know why or how, but when I was in the same situation you are in, after reading a little, I just got the desire to try reading namaz except with the thought of God in my head. I had to put everything in my life aside and just pray and meditate, and think of God. It helps here to know the translations of the surahs you read, so that you realize and mean what you are saying, as you say it.
And then it all came together from there.
I admit, that I am not regular with my prayers - but I feel guilty about that - so I don't want to preach to you since I'm no better...but I can tell you that I've read prayers and actually FELT something. I can't describe it, but at some point it falls together for you once you open your heart to the possibility. But you have to really believe in a God first. And I don't mean just saying "hey yeah I believe in a God and that He created me"...you have to really KNOW it to be the Truth and nothing else can be true.
Hmm...enough preaching.
I know its in Quran may be i wrote saying to get a sarcastic smile from u ![]()
PCG: very true indeed :k:
Suroor: As for your 2nd question who are WE? I mean accepting/admitting flaws depends from person to person. Its my personal belief that none of us is perfect. I mean look at the religious personel here, they might be very religious but most of the time they look down upon people that are less religious. So they have a flaw too
Its just a matter of how a person is, I think. Some are aware of their flaws and don’t hesitate to admit others just want to believe they are perfect. ![]()
