I am sorry that i do not share your excitement about Dubai and all things related to THE EMIRATES...
Fact of the matter is, the people of Dubai (ie. the locals) treat Pakistanis like absolute crap... consider yourself a third and if there is a fourth class citizen... and what really hurts is that we are supposedly 'brothers' being muslim and all.
So i say Boycott DUBAI, cause the only people that are treated nicely are arabs and also white folks, that despite the fact that these same white folks laugh at these dumb arabs.
Its true that not all arabs are like that... but if you have any pakistani pride.... i suggest you take your hard earned dollars elsewhere... Just take a look at Emirates the airlines (ask yourself how many senior management and corporate execs and even pilots are pakistani(indian))... Not many folks!!!!

The reason why is two fold:
1) Lets assume that Pakistanis are cheaters and con artists.... Does that therefore explain why Indians get treated the same (who presumably work immensely more harder and are for the most part law abiding) as well as Bangladeshi's! Its not just Pakistanis that get treated like crap (its everyone from the sub-continent).
2) If you have ever been to a place like Egypt... let me tell you that place is not much different from pakistan (same ole story of corruption and con artists). Yet the egyptians treat pakistanis like crap. Heck even Palestinians (people with no land) laugh at Pakistanis (who incidentally would gladly give their lives up for them).

why are u so angry at Arabs..its their land their country, they have every right to treat their citizens better than other nationals.infact we must ppreciate the efforts they do for their own nationals...its not their problem its ours..we must be treated with respect in our own land..this is the dlemma ..no respect inside Pakistan nor outside...:)
Lol seems like im not the only one with some beef against Dubai. But its not their racist attitude that bothers me. Thats something you have to take for granted.
What bothers me is the people who wonder at Dubai's marvels as if they were Dubai's own creations. Anybody ever cared to check Dubai's own R&D? They dont have any! All they have is bucketloads of money. Bring in technology from the west and cheap cheap labour from Bangladesh ($5 / day) and you have a great business venture.
Other places in the world might not be as breathtaking, but whatever they have is home made. The only thing Dubai can be really proud of is the money they have, which probably wont last long, soon after they run out of gas. Good luck to them anyway.
underthedome i'm i sorry didnt mean to discredit your thread. I just saw a video on one of the links you pasted. The one about The Palm resort/residences. Theyre all nice and dandy but to me personally they represent the height of materialism. I'd rather live a low profile life in my cozy apartment and take my chances in the next Life. Hey i'm taking God's word for it.
First of all I am not angry... the purpose of my post was to create awareness as well as provide advice to Pakistanis that hey ...
1) we're not treated all that well in the UAE!
2) we should boycott going to these countries and spending $$$'s there.

Pinkie You are absolutely right. I agree that the Arabs treat us south Asians like crap, and they are now planning to get us out of their land. It was US who builded up this whole nation. Almost 90% or maybe more than 90% of the labour force is from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, SriLanka etc.
Pakistanis use to hold over 50% of the managerial jobs 10 years ago, but now that ratio is dropped down to only 8% Whereas the managerial jobs occupied by Indians have risen upto 45-50%. Well, who's responsible? The Indians have really spoiled the market for Pakistanis. Because they are also willing to work for as low as 3000/-Dhs for a managerial post. I know a living example of someone, who lost his job just a week after he was hired because the company found 2 Indians who were willing to work for the company in the same field for the same salary. just imagine. 1 Pakistani replaced by 2 Indians for 7000/-Dhs.
Plus, Indians are more flexible in their work area. They can bend and break. But the Pakistanis can not. THey still have the AKAR in their bones.
People around the world, especially the Muslim would used to admire us Pakistanis for the courage we had shown in building up our own nation. But sadly, this admiration is no longer there. People of Malaysia used to hug and call a Pakistani "BROTHER" but now..... No one bothers.
Arabs had Pakistan in their good books, until some black sheep ruined it for us. I agree that we are being generalized for that. All of us arent the same but there is a THAPPA on us now, which is hard to wash.
