so basically meera (the paki movie actress) went to india and did some really dirty scenes in an indian movie
pakistani govt and especially the religious section of society were enraged and they issued a religious ruling (fatwa) against her.
ppl claimed that she being a famous paki actress is the ambassador of Pakistan when abroad and thus had brought disrepute to pak culture and religion, and so she was asked to pay a fine.
my point is:
meera kee marzi woh jo bhee kare. kisi ko kuch kehne ka kya haQ hae? jus coz she is a paki or a famous paki doesnt mean the country owns her or everytime she goes out of pak she is a paki representative. as an individual she can do what she wants and ppl or the paki govt can hold their opinions but cant control her life. if they dont like what she did they can tell her that or give statements in the newspapers and not hire her for further govt projects or whatever. she is answerable to God for her personal actions. if she was on an official mission representing pak it would be another thing, but she has gone there for her own private business so i dont see how ppl can link her to pak or islam.
what have others done in the past? imran khan and his activities in the west? the guy recently in the PM or president’s delegation who entered Haram Shareef in an intoxicated state? what abt these people? what abt our cricketers who engage in bad activities? what’s happenning in lahore everyday? what abt khar’s son poured acid on his wife’s face. did our religious sections issue a fatwa on him? how come no one catches or condemns these ppl? speaks a lot abt misplaced priorities and cowardice coz no one dares to condemn the powerful
i dont approve of what meera did. what she did should be condemned by everyone. no doubt abt that. the society does need to make it clear what it considers good and what it considers bad. but no one has the right to act like her guardian. ppl can express their opinion on her publically since she is a public figure. sure. but she did not break pakistani law of the land. then how can they put these restrictions on her? isnt placing fines on her and issuing fatwas on her and things like that beyond the scope of the paki authorities or religious sections… i personally think its a BIT TOO MUCH

im not saying what meera did is right, but to make it such a big issue and to issue fatwas on her? i mean i think its her personal business, not the country’s business.
and why didn’t they do the same thing with khar’s son or with imran khan?

i dont even think that the guy who entered Khana Kaaba in drunk state shud even be shown on TV but my point is that that was also a highly serious offence and that guy was actually part of the official delegation!!! whereas Meera is not even representing pak at this time

Rb yaar I do care, I mean what she did was wrong, and whats happenning in Paki movies is also wrong, but I’m criticising the attitude of our govt/religious sections, and also pointing out that how come they don’t raise a hue and cry on other issues as well. I feel like they can point fingers when the other party is weak but when the other party is strong then they don’t have the guts to do that.
