The way we dress

I had a question about how we should dress in Pakistan…?

So, I was just wondering if I wear a dress that ends slightly above my knees in the streets of Lahore/Karachi, is that really bad? I mean, are people over there going to raise eyebrows or …? I do wear Pakistani clothes but they are mostly sleeveless and is that bad? as I walk down the streets of Fortress or Park Towers? This is the way I dress…Once, I get there I can go buy more of a “modest” type of clothing…

Especially for those of you who live in Pakistan…help me out here please

But then again, I have seen people dress like this over there, so is it really a big deal?

Re: The way we dress

Would it kill you to cover up for a few weeks? You don't have to wear shalwar kameez, even jeans underneath a long dress wud be OK.

Everyone in Pakistan stares at you, whether you dress properly or not but it wouldn't hurt you to properly cover up.

If you're at a wedding or at someone's house, or going to a restaurant/fortress etc, u can probably get away with sleeveless but if ure going to the bazaars, why wud u take the risk and stand out?

IMO, its kinda dumb and screams ABCD!!!! to c grlz wearing tank tops and tight jeans and stuff in Pak.

Re: The way we dress

if its sleeveless justthrow a shawl on. in most areas it is not a common sight. upto you though, if u feel comfortable and dont mind the stares, and potentially chichoras attempting to get too free and all its okay.

Re: The way we dress

Last time I went, I had to deal with a lot of the "awara" population of Lahore, infact it got pretty scary. Oh great, more work for me...shopping. Well thanks for the advice though.

Re: The way we dress

Well asnwered. :k:

Re: The way we dress

I am a fashion freak. Wearing jeans under a dress is soo ewww. Although, It does depend on the dress.

Re: The way we dress

So why the hell wud u walk around revealing your body if the ppl there were so awara? If a properly covered woman is gonna be leered at by creeps, what makes you think u’re better off? It does take two to tango, if you walk around dressed like that you’re gonna get chichora guys leering and making comments. But if they touch you, by all means punch them :k:

Re: The way we dress

^ No hun, I was little then, even though I did dress the same way. So I am guessing it would get more extreme now? Anyways, I get your guys' point.

Re: The way we dress

Shows how much u know abt fashion, pants/leggings under long shirts (which resemble dress) are so very in :emmy:

Re: The way we dress

I am talking about a dress, not a skirt. and you said jeans not leggings...

Re: The way we dress

^

Wouldn't things be simple for you if you wore a burqa. Choice makes life so stressful. One burqa, simple. It's a stress and stare free solution.

Re: The way we dress

i said shirt not skirt

Re: The way we dress

PS: you can as fashion forward as you want underneath that burqa. Heck, if you want you can be dressed appropriately for a clothing-optional underneath that burqa. See, even Brittany dresses like that. :D

Re: The way we dress

Do I seem like a burqa type of person. No.

Do you mean a kurta, Sara? I will still have to shop more, while I am at it, Victoria's Secret. Yay.

Re: The way we dress

kurta, long sweater etc. That's the style over here at least, longer sweaters and shirts and shirts, t be worn over jeans or leggings/tights with flats or high boots

Re: The way we dress

Tsk tsk. Typical freshie attitude towards burqa. :D

Re: The way we dress

Its pretty hot over here and in Pakistan. Tee and jeans is the style here.

Re: The way we dress

I hope you wear a burqa.

Re: The way we dress

There's hardly a sight more beautiful than a pretty girl in a full sleeve shalwar kameez with a dupatta on her head.

Re: The way we dress

^ You can find that in Pakistan. It wouldnt hurt to see me in this kinda clothing.
