the vents and mr baby- Help

so Mr. Baby has a new hobby, pulling off vents and putting stuff in them, last week, he came bythe night stand picked my watch up and took off, I followedhimt o see what he was doing and on the other side of the room he proceeded to put it in the vent, I got there just in time to stop him.

earlier he would not pull the vent but just try to put things through the grates, I thought of getting diff type of grates that dont justhave slats but design so its harder to put things through.

but now the vent is coming off, last night he left teh family room and decided to go to the dinging room suspiciously, he was there with begum’s cellphone and keys and had justtaken off the vent.

I have two recommendations so far, tape the vents to the floor, dunno if tape will mess the wood up, second is to get some sort of net material and tape it inside the vent so even if he tosses something it does not go into the ductwork..

any other ideas?

Re: the vents and mr baby- Help

Throw his favorite toy down the vent. He will cry for a little while but will learn his lesson.

p.s: I am just kidding. DON’T DO THAT!

Re: the vents and mr baby- Help

Get the double sided sticky deals from command strip people and stick on the inside sides of the treasure vent.

Re: the vents and mr baby- Help

ahhhhhhh thank u, command strip is a brand?

Re: the vents and mr baby- Help

No good idea, i doubt daddy will be missing the cereal box

PS: do kids that age still get fascinated by boxes and shiny wrapping paper?

Re: the vents and mr baby- Help

Yes, Command is a brand. They have a special way of peeling without harming painted walls or wood.

Re: the vents and mr baby- Help

i know its annoying for you, but its also so cute! awww haha
good luck with the double stick tape and maybe make sure he doesn't find another "hiding" spot, like, say, the toilet!

speaking of which, when my brother was a wee one, he was caught washing his baby bottle in the toilet with the toilet brush, just like our mom cleaned his with the bottle brush in the kitchen sink. hahahaha

Re: the vents and mr baby- Help

Fraudia bhai, babies do really risky things.
here is what i had done when i was a around 4 or 5.
in Pakistan one day, i had come from outside the rain & i literally took my Mom's metal hair pins without her knowing it and in my little world, playing, i poked the pins in the 220 volts outlet sockets.
yes, i survived somehow.

so, please guard any crawling down around the base boards.
have outlet guards for the baby, and as for the vents, perhaps cover with a detachable glass shield, so that he cant put his hands on the vent.

best,
Dushwari

Re: the vents and mr baby- Help

paaabi ji, u rock..

Re: the vents and mr baby- Help

oh he is not crawling , barqordaar has been running all over the place for months. we have the house pretty baby proofed with outlet blocks and

PS, why would I want to cover a vent with glass, that would mean no air and that would mean I will freeze my butt to death etc :)

nah its not annoying, i just dont want to have to rip my ductwork to find stuff he has tossed in the vents. toilets are baby proofed so he cant open em.

and I relate to your brothers story, as a toddler I had used the toilet as a personal whirlpool, but thats a whoooooole diff story :)

Re: the vents and mr baby- Help

awww wt a cutieee

i wnt a baby now

i wud suggest the sticky double sided tape .

why dont u get him a couple of storage boxes of his own . so he can take stuff n put them in there bt in the end u will know where to fid them.
perhaps place them in different locations.

newayz gud luck.

Re: the vents and mr baby- Help

awwwww!!! lol! The command products are very useful for creative little guyz lol!! If you go to a home depot or lowes they have great selection of these things.

and maybe get a toy or a toy box - something he can put stuff "IN" without having to suffer consequences? Its tough I know when they find something so amusing - my guys loved our garbage pail with the lid that went "round and round" - we've had to go out and buy new phones, car keys, toys and even bank cards! I think we're finally past THAT point...and now we're up to "wow, I wonder what would happen if I put this envelope under the teapot flame"....

Re: the vents and mr baby- Help

Yeah..pick him up and give him big kisses...mr baby is so so cute!
