The US Foriegn Service

Re: The US Foriegn Service

Look, Kaleem is a hot guy...

Yeh, if Kaleem was any hotter we'd have whole different way of looking at "ass burn".

Re: The US Foriegn Service

I’m not macking on married men. astaghfirullah :snooty: Me in a dress and stilettos? Ack, no thanks I’m fine in my jeans and all-stars.

Re: The US Foriegn Service

Re: The US Foriegn Service

^ Dont tell me you missed the pic I put up with my hottie..

Re: The US Foriegn Service

I did, hook a brother up.

Re: The US Foriegn Service

UTD - the mother of his children.

Matsui, aap theek to hain? Anybody in politics has to do it for the love of the job. Madhanee uncle promised to hook me up years ago through his wifey. I should ask him about that!

Re: The US Foriegn Service

You should ask him. and he could..his wifey is a big whig at the UN. Self made...which is rare.

Re: The US Foriegn Service

CM,
Which track are you think about taking.....Admin, Economic, or Political? Political is the toughest to get in and judging from you apprehension they will make sure to filter you out if they get even a hint of dissention....BTW I've taken the exam as well....

Re: The US Foriegn Service

^ I think he's still at the train track level, specifically Thomas the Train

Re: The US Foriegn Service

CM, is this a joke? Surely you realize that the government you find replusive is going to tell you to piss off if it ever gets to an interview stage. You have a better chance of ending up at Gitmo than the State Dept.

Re: The US Foriegn Service

OhioGuy:

You're looking at this thing all wrong. Take a deep breath and follow along with MyVoice. Assuming for one deranged moment that CM could get hired by the US State Department, exactly where do you think they'll send him? They would not be sending him to South America. He'd go to some trouble spot with a large Muslim population. Many of those people, who are like-minded with CM in their antipathy to the US, will view him as a collaborator and a traitor to the Muslim faith. A guy who has sold out his religion and his brothers and sisters for the almighty American dollar.

If he goes to lands controlled by the PA, he'd be gunned down in Manger Square. If he goes to Iraq, we'd probably end up seeing him on some videotape surrounded by a few thugs wearing hoods and we might later find his torso in some ditch. At the height of irony, his like minded brothers and sisters would hate and despise him, spit on him, and/or do him in as they are so prone to do. The only thing that might save him from other CMs, are those American GI's he likes to mock when they die. And as soon as he opens his mouth and lets people know how he really feels, another "friendly fire" event would surely get coverage on the evening news.

This thread should have been started in the jokes section to begin with. If it's not a joke and if CM actually does go to work for the US government, the joke will most assuredly be on him.

CM: I hope the above answers the questions you posed about how you would be viewed if you got offered and took the job.

Re: The US Foriegn Service

Myvoice, for a moment it seemed to me that you really want him dead. Like really. Badly. Seriously.

Both of you (OG and you) really amaze me. How could you both take the stuff posted on an online BB so friggin' seriously?

Re: The US Foriegn Service

MV,

I think he is envisioning a job where he writes snappy reports that are never read in some lightless basement, and spends your hard earned tax money convincing chicks he is a "diplomat". I am not sure that the idea of actually doing anything for the people of America has really crossed his mind, somehow a paycheck with a zippy title is the only expectation.

Now, as to the real depth of Anti-Americanism. Mile wide and an inch deep. Even the most fashionable campus rebels will sell out in a heartbeat when daddys checks stop coming.... Liberalism is so cool until you have to pay your own bills....

Faisal, how many years have we been here? We have a firm grasp on things. It just flips me out to reread all that Anti-American trash, then think that things can spin about that fast when one graduates and needs a job. Just a little object lesson for the lurkers out there. Think before you write or spout a bunch of Anti-American trash. Words count, even on nameless faceless internet BBs. Jane Fonda has lived a life haunted by pictures posed with the North Vietnamese. John Kerry has to explain comments about Vietnam attrocities 35 years later. We are talking about the rantings of what has been described in private PMs as a "dreamy kid". Well, so be it. My 17 year old is at least mature enough to think through and balance her commentary.

For someone who styles himself as a "diplomat", he should KNOW that words count in this world. Aren't words the weapon of the diplomat?

Re: The US Foriegn Service

What you talking about??? CM asked how he’d be viewed. Mine is actually one of the very few replies that are on point to the question he asked.

CM made it clear he’s not asking for other people’s opinions about what he should do. If CMs parents oppose him working for the US State Department, don’t you think that a big part of the reason is how his fellow Muslim brothers and sisters will view him? Don’t you think that they are concerned a little for his safety?

I don’t want CM dead. I don’t even know the guy except for his online persona. As to that persona, I was quite content when the Admins put it in suspended animation. I get tired of people posting a big :k: when young Americans die.

Now tell me Faisal, bhai, exactly what part of what I wrote about people’s perceptions of CM in these trouble spots is incorrect?

Re: The US Foriegn Service

OG:
We've got all kinds of worthless State Department employees who are not needed in overseas trouble spots to write those tomes. I'd be real disappointed to learn that some fresh young Muslim recruit wasn't put out in the field where he is needed to show America's Islamic face. If we stuck CM out in Baghdad, the only chick he'd be hitting on would be some female American GI protecting him in the cafeteria. I'd almost be willing to pay a tax surcharge to see that. [REMEMBER: I said "almost"] .

Re: The US Foriegn Service

Combat assignments make those West Virginia girls look perty good!

Then again, Foggy bottom needs some danish fetchers tooo...

I would imagine that CM would be useful as a translator in Urdu or something. Most of that is done by software and then checked by someone. I can't imagine that some Yale grad with two years of urdu would not be preferable.

Maybe we should assign him a paper, "Things I like about America", to see if he could even pretend well enough to get past the first interview. Somehow he kept repeating, "50% of the people agree with me and hate Bush". If we need that, we can just call the French...

/QUOTE]

He probably only wanted him dead in the way CM has “wanted” American soldiers dead.

I have re-read a few old posts, and CM’s a pretty reasonable guy. I think my sensitivity to perceived anti-Americanism in the several months after 9-11 was to say the least “heightened”. There is no denying, however, that he’s not really the type of guy who would have any kind of loyalty to his prospective employer.

It’s just so preposterous that he would be presented with and actually consider the prospect of a job with the U.S. Foreign Service. So many here consider the benefits of a job, education…a free and open life in the U.S. as something they deserve-no strings attached. No assimilation, no integration politically or socially is necessary.
Hell, not even gratitude(even we could agree it is appropriate) is unnecessary.

Now we have a generally hostile (politically speaking) non-citizen (I think) very nonchalantly considering representing “our” views overseas and being paid by “our” tax dollars. And you and others here think we’re “overreacting”.

That this scenario should even be considered for a nanosecond…that others here consider this a legitimate choice to be made “by CM” presumably “for the best interests of CM” is what’s so aggravating.

CM, as far as I’m concerned-come visit Yellowstone, get a work visa, participate in a protest at the Capitol, whatever. But don’t think for the briefest of moments that you deserve an opportunity for a job within the U.S. Govt.
