Re: The US Foriegn Service
Again not the point i wanted discussed. I wanted to know about the labels associated with individuals who have such jobs.
I find it amazing that nearly 50% of the US population hates Bush and his policies so much that people are deserting the army and comments regard some dead dumbasses are an issue of consideration.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
Faisal, no doubt I have taken a personal dislike to Mr CM. That is clear. But activism has many forms. Maybe you want your tax money used to pay him, not me. I would be disgraced to have him represent my country. I have read his views, over the course of a number of years, and he sickens me.
Go back and reread the comments on the deaths of Americans and Brits, and see if he is the guy you want watching your back. If he wants to come here, work, make a living, raise his kids and live among us, fine. Like every immigrant who has come to our shores he, and his views are welcome. Would I want him in any fashion representing my government? Lord no.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
Matsui tsk tsk and to think you wanted to buy me lunch not 2 weeks ago.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
Of course not. You got Bolton and Wolf doing it for you.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
God help me.You do realize that mr Bush is your president?
Re: The US Foriegn Service
CM, I am with you yaar. Think sarcasm..... What do you think Pakistanis would think of a Pakistani guy-son of a Pakistani diplomat joining the US Foreign ofice and going out to the muslim world projecting our strategy and long/short term ambitions. Think like an American.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
Ohioguy, there are a lot of views posted here that are beyond credibility and borderline moronic. Folks from all sides - pro-America, anti-American, pro-Jihad, anti-Jihad and everything in between are guilty of taking extreme positions. Its the anonymous nature of the forum and polarizing posters that brings out the worst in many of us. However, if we start taking all that personally, its a waste of time.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
"You do realize that mr Bush is your president?"
Yes, and there is a reason he was REELECTED. Because the majority of Americans agree with him to some degree or another. As a "diplomat", CM might be called upon to work with some of the "dumbasses" in various embassies whose buddies were recently killed.
Go ahead kid, take the test. Make daddy proud. Your own statements on Gupshup have more than likely sunk you anyway. Presumably we can use you as cannon fodder in Somalia or Saudi Arabia or some God forsaken spot in East Bum Fck where you will be in the crosshairs of some brother wanting to kill Americans.... Perhaps there is use for you yet...
Faisal, life is personal. I had three people I know killed in 9/11. Do I want some dumb a$$ed kid who has no comprehension of that act trying to explain it overseas?
Re: The US Foriegn Service
OG, that is a bit much man. ![]()
Re: The US Foriegn Service
"My question was not with regard to if people think i should do it or not. My question was with regard to how people take into play the fact that a Pakistani is working for the State Dept. Its an issue of impression and image, or what characteristics they place on a Pakistani at the State Dept."
Personally, and that's just my own thinking so can't speak for others, I wouldn't draw any conclusions until I met the individual or got to know about his personal views and actions. Just coz someone (Muslim/Paki) is working for the US State Dept, it won't lead me to draw any conclusions abt them, and I wll have a neither positive nor negative image of them.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
^ SO you agree, US policy is neither good or bad towards muslims and pakis.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
Exactly 0% of the american population cheers the deaths of American soldiers as you do on a regular basis. Comments like that show that you belong more in Gitmo than in my country’s state department.
It would only be a matter of time before your traitorous ways would be discovered CM so my suggestion is to spare yourself, and your family, the shame and the pain.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
You must be related to my family based here, they keep telling me to do that. Regardless they would not think highly of me. But i was thinking of more concrete examples of opinions and qualities.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
OG if you lot can go into Afghanistan and Iraq and any other country you decide holds your interests and do as you please, well then you of all people should be willing to take CM with open arms. Seeing as he is basically doing absolutely nothing out of the ordinary.![]()
You’re upset over his views and not over the actions of your own people/government? To be honest I dont get where you’re coming from.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
Off topic stu but there is a certain segment and you know that.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
That’s easy, “someone who sticks out like a sore thumb”, “potential terrorist sympathizer” and “someone to watch very closely”.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
Matsui,
I get a little tired of people coming here for the education then bad mouthing the country. I get a little tired of some kid thinking deaths are a joke, then wanting a job. CM thinks that being an American diplomat is some piece of cake. I have a guy that I sit with every fall at high school football games who is the air attache at an embassy to a middle eastern country. He is two years away from retirement in the air force, and his kids and my kid have known each other for years. He worries that his youngest girl has not graduated from high school yet, and that he will be killed before he sees her graduate. Everyday he lays his A$$ on the line, and CM would be working with him, or someone like him in every embassy. And he calls them "dumbasses"? CM would last about a day with the Marine guard at an embassy.
Cold? Yes. I am pretty damn cold.
Re: The US Foriegn Service
CM, if you pass the test and are lucky enough to be selected you will take the job, who are you trying to kid?
Re: The US Foriegn Service
Anyway, leaving aside CM... if any bright Pakistani guy/gal tells me that they are considering a career in US Foreign Service, or CIA or NSA or NASA or FBI.... I'd say, more power to you. Jao mulk ka naam roshan karo (brighten the name of your country).
