Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
arab world is hundreds of years away from civilized world where tolerance is a good thing.
At times it feels like they are better off with dictators.
Thats a bit condescending.. Talk about sweeping generalizations.
I mean, how civilized have Desis been in recent history? Within YOUR life time I mean.
And when they were overthrowing their dictators we were all praise for them, and bestowing flowery titles like the "Arab Spring," so pretty I think birds should fly out of my computer screen as im typing this, and now when they attack the embassy they are barbaric again!
By the way, what pecentage of the populations are actually protesting? If 10,000 people in Libya protest, 1000 are violent, and 9000 are peacful, the 1000 that are violent are enough to label the entire population of the country as uncivilized?
We should resist the temptation to resort to generalization as a rule. Sure there are hotheads everywhere, but lets keep things in perspective.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
It is a concept that is hard for citizens of 3rd world countries to understand, especially in muslim countries where people never had the opportunity to think critically & rationally for themselves.....they always had others do the thinking for themselves.
LOL, if this kind of ad hominem is the best defense for free speech, then either it's proponents are brain dead, or truly the concept is spent and intellectually vapid. The irony of calling for rational and critical thinking while blindly defending a concept with nothing more than a bigoted thought.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
yes, it's our right to protest, but can they please not resort to violence? why cant they protest peacefully? why are they killing innocent people, attacking embassies and damaging public property? violence doesnt achieve anything!

I agree 1000 percent...
However, the question in the minds of Americans and Westerners isnt just why they are violent, but why protest at all?!?!
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
protest is good thing. kashmiris have managed to register their protest without resorting to violence. its their right and they should use it. this protest will be heard more than the violent protests going on else where.
however asking americans to leave the state is not right. neither it is their right nor it is a good decision. hope more sanity prevails.
But who exactly are they protesting against?
US government is not responsible for this movie.
US people are not responsible for this movie.
Its some Egyptian Christian who fled to USA who created this movie.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
US government is responsible they allowed it to happen and only after the anger did they pay lip service so now it is up to the muslim nations if they claim to be real muslims to cut all ties with United States.
But as we know all these muslim nations are run by stooges and cowards so nothing will happen only the people are angry and want something down!
as for Youtube pure hypocrisy US congress asked YouTube to remove videos containing Anwar al-Awlaki sermons youtube complied, muslims you are worth 0 to the united states government and that’s a fact so much for its not US governments fault and nothing they can do!
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
Violence should not happen at such a stupid and nonsense movies.
But I just wonder why freedom of expression is thrown only at Muslims' face whenever such a controversy happens? Try making an anti holocaust page on facebook and see 'your freedom of expression' taken away in matter of minutes. Rest of the world needs to understand the sensitivity of the situation and should NOT show double standards in such matters.
Speaking of freedom of expression and double standards, does anyone know/read about the Muslim teenager who is being charged in England for a comment he'd made on FB.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
Are you mental, the US didnt even know this movie was being made. How in the world could they have stopped assuming they could ignore freedom speech laws…
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
There is a world of difference between registering protest over holocaust denial or opening a store named after Hitler in India on one hand, and going on rampage for any real or perceived insults. Freedom of expression includes freedom to protest. It is the manner in which these protests are held, which one finds distasteful.
I have not heard about Muslim teenager, but I found something interesting of similar nature.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
You almost sound surprised there was violence. Lets face it, its not just a question of whether they protest or not, but that they protest. In the end, they will look bad regardless of whether they are peaceful or not.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
That is your perception. Read my earlier post. I clearly highlighted in bold the positive statements of Kashmiri maulvi about peaceful protest.
What country do you live in? This isnt about some Kashmiri Maulvi, its about what Americans are going to be thinking. Americans dont care whether its peaceful or not, any protest would be viewed negatively.
There are Maulvis IN the US itself, calling for peace, waving American flags, and they still demonize them... Its politics man...
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
Are there any unemployment figures for muslims worldwide? I mean for all countries combined. How can people with 9 to 5 jobs and families to support find the time to protest and risk their lives over things happening in other countries?
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya

dont get me wrong but..
wat did 5-6-7 million peacefull marchers in uk and europe achieve, when they are protesting against invasion of iraq. were they able to stop their governments?.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya

Agreed. Who cares? There are those in the media who make fun of Jesus and Moses and even Buddha. Are you going to take issue with all of them?
Just ignore the movie. I feel like we're screwed because speaking out against religion is now seen by some as "western", so any attempts to move forward are vehemently opposed.

Dont get me wrong too,
What these otherwise violent protests are going to achieve, any idea? Pl share.
Wish we could foresee how future generations will react to this all.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
I do not mean all politicians are like that, but there are The US do have their faults but they are highlighted because their media is quite free to report the mistakes. Politicans from other countries like India and Pakistan also have similar traits but through corruption and control manage to hide it.
What does it all have to do with price of onion in China?
We are not talking about their internal politics here but about their foreign policy. And when it comes to foreign affairs then American media slavishly follow the government lines.
It is laughable to think of American media as free when it comes to foreign policy.
