Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
where's the inaccuracy?
So you do consider ALL Muslims to be "west hating raging dangerous lunatics"?
Arent you the one who was head over heels about a book by a well known Islam hater, Robert Spencer? Remember that?
People like you are no different from al Qaeda.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
What does it all have to do with price of onion in China?
We are not talking about their internal politics here but about their foreign policy. And when it comes to foreign affairs then American media slavishly follow the government lines.
It is laughable to think of American media as free when it comes to foreign policy.
+1
US has pretty well defined Elite, and anybody willing to promote US narrative and the interests of the predominantly WASP Elite, will be awarded with power and prestige. Those who do not tow the line, are sidelined and forgotten.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
They DID before 1947.
They CAN'T after 1947.
Offtopic: There are democratically-elected candidates from parties like All India Muslim League, All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen, AIUDF, etc. However most (Hindu) Indians do not know about them, as National Media basically ignores them. Why ? Because if their fiery speeches are telecast on live TV, there will probably riots, and consequently consolidation of Majority communalism.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
i see you failed to answer this point no surprise:
“as for Youtube pure hypocrisy US congress asked YouTube to remove videos containing Anwar al-Awlaki sermons youtube complied, muslims you are worth 0 to the united states government and that’s a fact so much for its not US governments fault and nothing they can do!”
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
^Why does it bother you if his videos get taken down? He thought it was his Islamic duty to hate Jews and apostates. He routinely spewed venom against Muslims who disagreed with him. Why do you have sympathies for an enemy of Islam?
arab world is hundreds of years away from civilized world where tolerance is a good thing.
At times it feels like they are better off with dictators.
... better off with dictators bankrolled by the West. That would be a more honest statement. It's your prerogative to make racist generalizations about entire peoples, as long as you demonstrate some familiarity with the history/politics of the region. Arabs are wired to be intolerant and violent, yet we witnessed a largely peaceful Arab Spring that faced brutal crackdowns by government apparatuses. This must be a historical anomaly.
Interesting topic that deserves a separate thread, but Samuel Huntington's theory of the 'clash of civilizations' has long been discredited. This is the same reductive world-view that inspires Westerners to marvel at how India, a country of 'superstitions and snake-charmers' can be progressing.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
Agreed. Who cares? There are those in the media who make fun of Jesus and Moses and even Buddha. Are you going to take issue with all of them?
Just ignore the movie. I feel like we're screwed because speaking out against religion is now seen by some as "western", so any attempts to move forward are vehemently opposed.
Its a waste. The thing is, blasphemous material is EVERYWHERE on Youtube... Who are you going to fight?
The difference was that this time around, some half computer literate mullah somewhere decided to check out what all the kids are raving about these days, went online and came across this video by accident.
What they dont get is that blasphemous stuff has been all over the internet and tv for years. South Park did atleast two seperate shows in which they featured the prophet PBUH back about ten years ago, and no one made an issue of it.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
Thats because Anwar Al Awlaki was trying to induce people into committing acts of violence. Right or wrong, if they felt that he was a threat, he was silenced. Criticizing religion or even insulting religion on the other hand is considered free speech.
The US doesnt regulate what private citizens do or dont do. You can make any video you want as long as you dont make threats or call for violence etc. You can be as repugnant as you want, you have a right to speak regardless.
And there are many many blasphemous videos on YouTube, where have you been? Suddenly you woke and realized there are people in the world who dont like Muslims!

I think you misunderstood rommel's point. As far as I understand, his objection is not on removing Awlaki's video. His objection is on America removing Awlaki's video but leaving this venomous, bigoted, anti-Islam movie on YouTube.
This is what makes US responsible for the spread of this anger across the Islamic world. It is this hypocritical use of ideals like Free Speech and Liberty.
Why is it ok to use this argument about free speech when it comes to Zionist snakes maligning Muslims? Why is it not used when someone asks for an independent investigation of the claims of holocaust?
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
Americans can't understand why there is so much hatred against them in Islamic world even though it spends so much money there.
They don't want to acknowledge that this hatred stems from America's unabashed and unequivocal support of Zionist state in the Middle East.
The Zionist control over the US is so strong that the two parties there strive to appear more Israel friendly than other. At this point one might ask them that if they want to outdo each other in supporting Israel than who will pay for it? At what expense? The answer is obvious. It will be Palestinians in particular and Muslims in general, who will pay for this race in America to support the Zionist state.
And they wonder why Muslims hate us! Plain stupid of those who ask this question.

This video is different from other anti Islam movies because it had gone viral before it was picked by that "illiterate mullah". It was also translated in Arabic and spread in Arabic world as well. Remember that the maker of this video is a Coptic Christian, most probably from the Middle East.

Ok. So if someone is not inciting people to commit acts of violence then it should be expression of free speech and such video need not removed. Deal?
But then why questioning SOME aspects of holocaust a CRIME? How does questioning holocaust result in inciting violence?
But even if one disagrees with what I said above and still say that it was ok to leave that hateful video; I ask what makes sense? Sticking to the hypocritical "free speech" and leave the video there, or bear with major unrest in the whole Middle East because of it?
if one goes with the first choice then I would say just stop complaining and deal with the consequence of this decision.
Apropos to US role in Arab world: One must also acknowledge the fact that US SD has always distinguished between “good” dictators and “bad” dictators, in order to pursue their short and medium term interests. On one hand they tried discrediting reformist Arab leaders like Col. Nasser, and on the other, they are propping up one of the most regressive and autocratic regime in the region. The same regime, which incidentally, uses its petrodollars for spreading a poisonous ideology amongst the relatively tolerant Muslim populace of Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Malyasia and Indonesia.

I'm assuming he adheres to Awlaki's ideas, based on his posts in general.
This is a dangerous line of reasoning. It's one thing to ask why the US government isn't forcing Google/YT to remove the video, and another to use this as an excuse to absolve these mobs of responsibility. Who is translating and proliferating this video in Arabic? Does it occur to you that there are 'agendas' on the Muslim side? The response to any given provocation is a choice. By the same token you can conclude that Mumtaz Qadri was simply responding to a 'provocation' by Salman Taseer. You can argue it was Taseer's fault he died - he shouldn't have offended public sentiments, he knew exactly what he was doing. It isn't rational to use the double standards of US anti-terror laws or the Patriot Act to justify violence being committed in the name of religion. AIPAC's influence on American politics doesn't explain the issue of blasphemy in the Muslim world. It is not necessary to condemn Western double standards at the expense of critical introspection - we can do both.
Many realize this video is just an excuse to express long-standing anti-Americanism (which goes beyond Palestine). There are several issues at play here, and certain groups are using the blasphemy issue to further their interests and stoke violence. It's been reported that the coordinated military attack on the Libyan embassy was pre-planned and unrelated to the video, a response to the killing of an Al-Qaeda leader in June.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
I find it interesting that you find this article interesting. I expect nothing less from a neo-conservative bigot like Fouad Ajami. Yes, the issues in the Middle East are the simple result of a collective inferiority complex and “ambivalence toward modernity that torments Muslims.” What a load of Orientalist tripe.
Re: The US diplomatic missions attacked in Egypt and Libya
yes, it's our right to protest, but can they please not resort to violence? why cant they protest peacefully? why are they killing innocent people, attacking embassies and damaging public property? violence doesnt achieve anything!
Whom are you protesting against? Can you please explain the reason?

Sorry to say this. But, you have to take a hard look at the history. Use of force has been a part of Arab culture. Take a look at the spread of Islam, Prophet's teaching are for a moral and just life, but the way the message spread is through conquest driven by moral righteousness and strength given by the new way of life. It did not spread with “apostles” and “monks” roaming around. Whether the message is engrained in their heart or not the method is engrained. Or some might say the method precedes the message as the method was always there in their DNA. Even religions that spread peacefully have become victims to power abuse, when religion and politics mingled (i.e. height of papal power in Rome).
Moderator, please note althought I am not a Muslim, I respect teaching of all enlightned men or women, the same way I respect teachings of Prophet's. Therefore this is in not meant to offend teachings of Prophet. Mere a historical prospective.
