Ishq e mamnu swept audience ( young and old a like) off their feet.
Even I had colleagues who were so engulfed into IM that they had to take special sleep for watching IM at night.
Now this Fatimah Gull is so enticing. Also Manahil and Khalil is captivating a huge audience.
What is it with our dramas?!?! are they going down or is it that the above mentioned dramas have stories far more gripping?!?!
Is it monotony of ‘typical saas bahu’ jhagra?!?!
Every other channel you switch women fighting over one man ‘the hero’ …
I haven't seen any of the dubbed dramas airing on our channels but I did see the first season of magnificent century . Granted that there is was too much drama amongst the kings concubines, but no Pakistani drama can ever match its scale. Such a complex story with so many characters that aren't balk and white. Gorgeous locations and sets. Very elaborate costumes .their production houses have pretty fat budgets. Our tv industry on the other hand follows a very strange business model for producing dramas. Tv channels pay the production houses squat when they buy content from them and make a ton of money from advertising revenues. The prod houses are very cash strapped and stick to safe and easy to make Storylines. There was a very good article about this in dawn but I can't seem to find it
Its beyond me why people are loving such horribly dubbed dramas...but then again we are talking about pakistani nation who love to diss anything produced in pakistan and love imported stuff regardless of quality

DUBBING might be horrible but most of us will agree that story is original and the backgroundmusic is awesome
I watched that drama on yt in Turkish…(dubbed version is too painful). There are like 70 episodes…I fastforwarded it and finished it in a week. I must say it had a bad plot. But I liked some bihter+behlul scenes. :sid:
That behlul guy is hot and that Bihtar lady is gorgeous and turkey is so pretty and the interior of their houses is so well done..
I started watching ishq e mamnou just for the interiors
^ this show and magnificent century-the historical drama about suleyman the magnificent- air at the same time in turkey and are competing on ratings and viewership. According to the guardian Magnificent century had over 150 million viewers arou d the globe and I think this one has a similar number.
Btw Pakistan isn't the only country obsessed with Turkish shows countries in eastern Europe including Bulgaria and poland, Serbia ,as well as Africa and the middle east are obsessed with them. They are also all the rage in Japan . According to the guardian, Turkish dramas have reached places even the ottoman empire couldn't . So lets stop dissing ourselves for watching Turkish tv and just enjoy it!!
