I’m creating a new thread, where you can talk about Tennis Tournaments(ATP and WTA).I feel that most of the threads here are about Football,so I start it.If you guys are interested then post your comments.
The recent news is that Serena’s back, she defeated Myskina 6-2 6-2 in Cincinnati.
Re: The Tennis Thread (for Grand Slams and other major tournaments)
Clijsters has withdrawn from us open due to left wrist injury.venus also pulled out and Davenport has shoulder problem,Serena is not in good shape. So this is the best chance for Justine, Sharapova and Amelie Mouresmo to take the title.
Re: The Tennis Thread (for Grand Slams and other major tournaments)
roger could nt win the french it was bad news for those who think that hes the best ever.maria sharapova could'nt win wimbledon but shes still very very hot
Re: The Tennis Thread (for Grand Slams and other major tournaments)
I feel bad for Clijsters! She finally won a major last year and now when it's time to dfend her title, she's out with a wrist injury again.
Women's side is still very competitive though. Ivanovic recently defeated Hingis in Canada to take the Rogers Cup title. Serena Williams has not played much tennis this summer or year for that matter, but I think if she gets thru the first couple of matches, her mental toughness will get her deep intot eh tournament.
Sharapova's quarter looks wide open and it wouldn't be a surprise if she gets to yet another grand slam semi final. The question is, will she make it to the final? Or is this grand slam like the other three this year go to either Mauresmo or Henin-Hardenne?
I havent looked at the women's draw that closely, so cant make a prediction about the final , YET :P
My prediction for the men's final :p RODDICK vs. Federer!
I mean unless something goes terribly wrong with Federer, he's gonna get to the final, especially because his draw is just perfect for him! No real challenges.
On the other hand, Roddick's quarter is the hardest quarter of the draw! We have Agassi, Baghdatis, Gasquet, Hewitt and Ljubicic there phew
Ofcourse, THE biggest story of this U.S. Open is Andre Agassi. This will be his last tournament. Unfortunately, he has a really tough draw, and as he hasnt played much tennis this summer, he might not get far in the tournament. But that doesnt really matter now, does it? His legacy will live forever.
Re: The Tennis Thread (for Grand Slams and other major tournaments)
My favourite player is Andy Murray who has beated Roger Federer. He is in great form, along with Andy Roddick. Technically, Roger Federer is #1 at the moment and no doubt.
Re: The Tennis Thread (for Grand Slams and other major tournaments)
Andre Agassi vs Roger Federer today. Who is the best? I admire Andre Agassi to be the best player of tennis. Although his serve is not fastest, but he can face at a rapid pace of serve. He is quick among everywhere.
Re: The Tennis Thread (for Grand Slams and other major tournaments)
^ Did you mean Agassi vs. Baghdatis??
Anyhow, I guess every match Agassi is gonna play is gonna become a classic now. His first round match was awesome but last night’s against Baghdatis was one the greatest matches i have ever seen!! Go Agassi!!
tonight’s matches have been delayed due to rain I was really looking fwd to Nalbandian vs. Safin!
Re: The Tennis Thread (for Grand Slams and other major tournaments)
Yes, I watched that too. One of the greatest matches ever. Baghdatis was injured at the end but still gave his hardest attempt. The game went so long and everybody enjoyed.
Re: The Tennis Thread (for Grand Slams and other major tournaments)
Agassi is struggling really badly physically in third round match. Currently trailing a set and by the way things are going, this might turn out to be the curtain for a true legen :(
Re: The Tennis Thread (for Grand Slams and other major tournaments)
Agassi :( I guess it was expected that he wont make it deep into this tournament but I was still hoping he'd get to the second week. But th match against Baghdatis just took too much out of him. I loved his speech at the end!
In other news, Roddick is going to be facing B. Becker in the round of 16. Roddick was pushed to 5 sets today, so I hope he's physically and mentally prepared for tomorrow's match. Becker did look like he was running outta gas towards the end of the match against Agassi..so i like Roddick's chances against him.
Probably the most exicitng match on the women's side will be tomorrow. Serena Williams vs. 1 Amelie Mauresmo.
