The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

You are right about personal grievances but not just against non muslims, they can be easy targets but according to the article below, 94% of the cases are actually against muslims.

Punjab blasphemy case study: 94% cases against Muslims

LAHORE: A new debate has started about Pakistan’s controversial blasphemy laws after Aasia Bibi, a Christian woman from Nankana Saheb in Punjab, who was sentenced to death for blasphemy, made headlines across the world.

The country’s liberal educated class are advocating changes in the controversial laws, while religious parties are saying they would fight any such move.

There is a common impression that the blasphemy laws are targeting only non-Muslim communities in the country, but official statistics show this notion is misplaced.

In retrospect, 12 prisoners, including Aasia, have so far been sentenced to death by courts in Punjab on charges of blasphemy. Of these, only three are Christians while the remaining are Muslims, The Express Tribune has learnt.

According to official data, as many as 130 prisoners are in different jails of Punjab under the blasphemy laws. Of these, 64 have been convicted, while the remaining 52 are under trial.

Of the convicts, 12 prisoners, among them Aasia, have been condemned to death, while the others have been awarded different punishments, including life sentences and fines.

Interestingly, only eight prisoners are Christians, while the remaining 122 are Muslims. Of the eight Christians, two are women – Aasia Bibi, wife of Ashiq Masih and Ruqia, wife of Murir Masih – and six are men.

Now let’s have a look at the status of these eight Christians. Again the official data shows that only three are on death row, two have been sentenced to life imprisonment, while the remaining three are under trial.
So far, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected one appeal of a Christian man, Anwar Kanth, son of Veera Masih, who was sentenced to death by the court of the additional and sessions judge Lahore on July 18, 2002.

Official statistics available with The Express Tribune show that only eight Christians have been jailed under the blasphemy laws in Punjab since September 29, 2001.

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

I don't live in Pakistan but that doesn't mean I would call names to whole country because of few idiots, I am not from that level, probably you are.

See, now you can easily justify idiocy because YOU think its okay. I am really glad world doesn't go by YOUR thoughts.

The fact that this law get criticized in media by journalists proves you WRONG right there. Just like there are terrorists in the country and you don't see people "standing up" against them doesn't mean they are supporting terrorists or they are one of them. You really need to get your thoughts re-done.

And the fact so many oppose such cases doesn't count because you have already made up your mind and want to make your own conclusion, again I am glad world is not going by your logic.

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

Wow , only if Pakistan had many of like you , it would be the greatest country in the world. You are so right. :k:

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

If that is the case then why isnt this stupid law repealed?

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

Sorry its not a few idiots. Its vast swathes of Pakistani society that are like this. Only the Urban elite might be opposed to this but go to rural villages and you will see wide spread support for such laws.

There are idiots all over the world who do idiotic things. But its that reaction to those idiots from the general society which differs.

The fact that Pakistan is a democracy and thus the laws enacted should reflect the will of the people shows that the media reach is only to the urban elite and not to the rural poor who are thoroughly brainwashed.

The fact of the matter is not nearly enough people have opposed such cases but in fact larger rallies have been held to support the Hudood Laws thats why since these ridiculous laws were enacted in the 1980's they have yet to be removed.

Pakistan Doctor Arrested On Suspicion Of Blasphemy

KARACHI, Pakistan – Pakistani authorities have arrested a doctor on suspicion of violating the country’s contentious blasphemy law by throwing away a business card of a man who shared the name of Islam’s prophet, Muhammad, police said Sunday.

The blasphemy law has been widely criticized by human rights groups following the case of Asia Bibi, a Christian woman sentenced to death last month for insulting Islam. Critics say the law should be amended or repealed because it is often used to settle grudges, persecute minorities and fan religious extremism.

Naushad Valiyani, a Muslim doctor in the southern city of Hyderabad, was arrested Friday after a complaint was lodged with police alleging his actions had insulted the Prophet Muhammad, said regional police chief Mushtaq Shah.

The case began Friday when Muhammad Faizan, a pharmaceutical company representative, visited Valiyani’s clinic and handed out his business card. He said when the doctor threw the card away, Faizan went to police and filed a complaint that noted his name was the same as the prophet’s.

Shah said police were investigating whether Valiyani should be charged with blasphemy.

Dozens of Pakistanis are sentenced to death each year under the blasphemy law, though most cases are thrown out by higher courts and no executions have been carried out. The law, however, is unlikely to be repealed because the government’s ruling party - largely secular - relies on the support of Islamist groups.

Islamist political parties have recently demonstrated in support of the law and the sentence against Bibi. One hard-line cleric said if the government did not execute Bibi, his mosque would pay anyone who killed her $5,800.

The family of Bibi - a mother of five - insists she was falsely accused over a personal dispute. There have been appeals from around the globe - including one from Pope Benedict XVI - to pardon her. But the government has said it is first waiting for a court ruling on her appeal.

Pakistan’s minister for minority affairs has said the law is being examined to prevent widespread abuse.

In other developments Sunday, militants fired mortars targeting a Shiite mosque in the Kurram tribal region but the shells landed in a nearby residential area, killing three children, said Jamil Hussain, a local administrator. Seven people were wounded.

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

This is a legacy of late Jihad-ul-Haq. I hope someday some political leader will have balls big enough to on mullahs & undo this black law.

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

^^Thank you,

The Guy.. so Called Mr. Mohammad whatever should be sent to Mental hospital and should be kept under intensive observation for atleast 3 months should be given electric shocks twice a day...

As far as religious leaders are concerned, they should be held and should be sentenced for interfering and influencing in law and order situation...

The officer who have held the doctor should be fired at once and there should be a case registered against him as well...

As far as my understanding is concerned, it is blasphemy to wrongfully accuse anyone of the same...

having said that, how can this law is stupid but the law for speaking against holocaust is not??? how come people never criticized that but never spare a 2nd to object on the blasphemy law of Pakistan... there are situations where the law for death sentence is also misused and if i am not wrong, people often use it to get rid of their opponent in a legal way... so does that mean we should wipe out the death sentence or any other penalties we may have in the law???

The case is, we should be able to enforce the law rightfully and should make an example of those who try to use the or should i say mis-use the law for their gains...

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

Pakistan needs Blasphemy law to get repealed.

Actually, such laws (law of Blasphemy) in Pakistan is itself Blasphemy and all who enacted such laws and those who support such laws should be booked on Blasphemy and should get hanged on charges of abusing prophet (SAW). Reason is simple:

Prophet (SAW) was Rahmat-ul-lil-Alameen, thus he (SAW) was Rahmat for believers and non-believers alike. That is, Prophet (SAW) was Rahmat for all regardless of those who abuse Prophet (SAW) or love him (SAW), as 'aalam' consists of both who love Prophet (SAW) and those who are Mukhalifeen ... including even those who hate Prophet (SAW).

So, people who enacted law on Blasphemy in Pakistan and those who support law on Blasphemy in Pakistan are abusers of Prophet (SAW). These people do not believe that Prophet (SAW) was Rahmat-ul-lil-Alameen. They must be hurting Prophet (SAW) as in the name of Prophet (SAW) they are abusing people (giving them Zahmat), thus have turned Prophet (SAW) from Rahmat-ul-lil-Alameen to ‘nau-zo-billah’ Zahmat-ul-lil-mukhalafeen for many, and thus should get booked on Blasphemy law and should be given severe punishment due to this reason of abusing Prophet (SAW).

Repeal of Blasphemy law is necessary to bring back the sanctity of Prophet (SAW). We should understand that blasphemy law was ploy of Iblis/Shaitan who hated that Prophet (SAW) is Rahmat-ul-lil-Aalameen (without any doubt). Prophet (SAW) was Rahmat for all creations of Allah, including those who loved Prophet (SAW), had differences with Prophet (SAW), or hated Prophet (SAW). People who enacted law on Blasphemy in Pakistan and those who support law on Blasphemy in Pakistan are agents of Shaitan, played with the sanctity of Prophet (SAW), and thus are abusers of Prophet (SAW). These people are disbelievers, as they (intentionally, ignorantly, or due to mischief of Iblis) do not believe that Prophet (SAW) was Rahmat-ul-lil-Alameen.

Just imagine that I am a sinner and even I would feel hurt, ashamed and embarrassed if someone harms a person for only reason that he abused me. I believe that most people who have godly pious heart would feel ashamed, embarrassed and hurt if someone got harmed just because that person abused them. Now think what would be feelings of Prophet (SAW) who was Rahmat-ul-lil-Aalameen that people are getting not only harmed but are intimidated, abused and even hanged just because they abused Prophet (SAW) and blasphemy law. Worse is situation where a person has not even abused Prophet (SAW) but were made victim in the name of Prophet (SAW). Certainly, Prophet (SAW) instead of feeling happy or satisfied of that punishment in his name, He (SAW) must be feeling embarrassed in front of those who got hurt or harmed because of him (SAW), and would be feeling angry on those who abused others in his (SAW) name.

So, if we love Prophet (SAW), it is our duty to work that blasphemy law get repealed so that people should not get hurt in the name of Prophet (SAW), and punish those who are abusing name of Prophet (SAW) in the name of blasphemy law.

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

you are very right.Such laws should be removed which have no foundation in Quran. Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him) and his companions did not kill any kafir if he abused Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him).

Is there more love present in todays mullas than Sahaba of Holy Prophet (SalAllaho alaihe wasallam)

This law has been based on political basis.

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

Sorry to burst your bubble but to date NO ONE HAS BEEN executed under this law in fact most of these cases were tossed out of the court by higher judiciary just like "free country"

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

first time in recorded hsitory agree with sa1eem :D

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

That maybe true, but many of the accused people in blasphemy cases, even after being exonerated by courts, end up being killed by local mullahs and their supporters.

Here is an example.

and this…

LHC upholds death for blasphemy accused

LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday confirmed the death sentence handed down to a blasphemy convict and ordered that he be hanged till death.

This is the second case of its kind in the country when the death sentence of a blasphemy accused has been confirmed by the LHC since inception of the blasphemy law.

An Additional District and Sessions Judge Lahore on May 27, 2002 had awarded Wajihul Hassan death sentence for allegedly uttering blasphemous remarks against the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and other prophets. He was also accused of hurting religious sentiments of the complainant – Senior Advocate Muhammad Ismail Qureshi.

Allam Iqbal Town Police registered an FIR against Hassan under sections 295-C (use of derogatory remarks in respect of Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), 295-A (malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) and 298-A (use of derogatory remarks in respect of holy personages).

The session judge had awarded him death sentence and Rs0.2 million fine under section 295-C, 10 years’ imprisonment and Rs50,000 fine under section 295-A and two years’ imprisonment and Rs20,000 fine under section 298-A.

According to the complainant – Advocate Muhammad Ismail Qureshi – who had got Ahmadis declared non-Muslims by the Supreme Court, some unknown persons had been wiring him frequent letters carrying blasphemous remarks against the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and other prophets.

In the FIR he alleged that although the letters did not contain names of the senders, he was sure that Wajihul Hassan was behind these letters. He alleged that Wajihul Hassan was a Muslim but later converted to Christianity and was using derogatory remarks against the Holy Prophet (pbuh). The complainant could not produce any of these letters before the police and mentioned in the FIR that he had burnt all the six letters.

During the course of investigation, however, he handed over seven such letters to the authorities attributing them to accused Hassan. He also said that Nawaz Butt and Hassan are names of the same person.

During the trial, the complainant produced 10 prosecution witnesses to buttress his case against the accused. The witnesses said they had seen Hassan uttering blasphemous remarks.

Counsel for Hassan, Advocate Parvaiz Aslam Chaudhry, strongly rejected the prosecution story, saying that on the basis of extra-judicial confession of witnesses before the trial court, an accused could not be awarded death sentence.

He told The Express Tribune that in his statement under section 342 of CrPC his client had denied uttering any blasphemous remarks. He quoted Hassan as saying that he was a Muslim and believed in the last Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and never dared to utter or write any blasphemous remarks.

He said by birth he is a Muslim and never converted to Christianity. He said the complainant deliberately named him as Murshad Masih to strengthen his stance but it was not his name. They intend to file an appeal against the LHC order before the Supreme Court.

Advocate Chaudhry claimed that the motive behind registration of FIR was that complainant Qureshi had a grudge against former Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) chairperson Asma Jahangir.

Hassan and his father Safdar Hussain were employees at the office of Asma, he claimed, adding that Qureshi tried to use Hassan against Asma but over his refusal he implicated him in the case.

Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) chairman told The Express Tribune that the commission was against the capital punishment at first place, adding that blasphemy laws have long been misused in Pakistan.

He said, “Blasphemy laws have always been controversial. People have been using them to penalise their opponents and minorities. HRCP and other organisations have long been demanding that the blasphemy law should be repealed”.

He said that this government was considering abolishing capital punishment but hasn’t implemented it yet.

Asma Jahangir denied having any link with accused Hassan. She said he never had been her employee.

Crazy peoples

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

This one more case shows the absurdity of the blasphemy law. Newspapers containing venerable names are thrown and discarded in the most disgusting ways all over Pakistan by all. Is this blasphemy? What about computer screens, which may be used to study holy scriptures and also used for some steamy pages?

By the way my towel is manufactured by Mohammed textile mills. I dry myself after a shower with it. Is that blasphemy? I would laugh, but the tragedy that is this nation only causes me to cry and firm belief.. that these laws must be repelled. This is just so horribly stupid.

But it seems like Zionist & Western conspiracy.

Allah-hu-Akbar
death to Israel
death to usa
death to the infidels
death to the dawn

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

Last night I accidentally threw a paper, with letter M on it, in the dustbin.I did not realize that the name our beloved Prophet starts with that letter. Shame on me. I should be stoned to death.

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

^ I quite agree with the last part! :p

Those who say there is nothing wrong with the law are living in a dream world. The existance of the present law invaties people to abuse it. The law was there in the book but no one committed blasphemy until the sentence was changed to death. Once the sentence was changed, people seem eager to die by breaking the law.

In pakistan, the religious zealots have put a lot BS in the system. If it seems reasonable to you that people would abuse the holy prophet (saw) just for the pleasure of it when 99% of the population is muslim and it could get them killed with or without the blasphemy then you need to see a doctor. No one is stupid enough to abuse the holy prophet (saw) and get him/herself killed. This law is especially stupid because there is no way of getting a pardon. If you are found guilty then it doesn't matter if you convert to islam or ask for forgiveness you will be killed. Because according to our mullahs, no one can forgive such an offender.

Another example is the part of the constitution which says that the president and the prime minister have to muslim. I don't know which bloody idiot put that in there. There is no way in hell that a non-muslim will every get elected so why the hell put it in there? No common sense at all.

Re: The stupidest blasphemy charge!!!

What Pakistan needs is a secular Hitler to run this country. Its quite evident that Pakistani people are not mature enough for democracy.
