The Shame...

Violent protestors go mad in Islamabad and Lahore. I was just watching news clips on Geo and apparently some thousands of madressah students stormed important areas of islamabad threatening to and also damaging property.
Most recent pictures coming from Lahore showed helpless Police and rangers firing teargas to disperse madmen who have within a few hours burnt millions of rupees worth of property that belongs to their own fellow poor countrymen. Hundreds of cars and motorbikes are in flames, businesses and routines disrupted.
It’s being reported that the Punjab assembly bldg is also in flames.
The CM has said there’s no intention so far of calling in the army or imposing curfew.
I say why not!? Our national mentality deserves this and only this.
At times like this one feels pathetic and ashamed of belonging to where we belong.
Some love for religion and The Prophet PBUH.
What would he be saying to all this right now…?

Re: The Shame…

I bow my head in shame as well. Yes Haris, Punjab Assembly building has suffered major damage. These $%^# idiots have no regard for the national monument, and citadel of the civilian government. Punjab Assembly building had stood the test of time and even in the worst of the moments, it was spared.

Not anymore. Mullahtic fever has burned it. I feel like sitting and watching the Rome burning. There is no hope. No hope. Oh God. My country is being burnt by the bearded Mullahs and their clean-shaven supporters.

Damn these anarchists. Damn.

Re: The Shame…

Two deaths and many injuries are being reported thus far. God bless all.

Foreign fast food joints; KFC, Pizza Hut and McDonalds targetted again.

Hypocrisy and duplicicty at its best. We are a confused people…

The whole nation celebrating Valentine’s Day on one side and everyone who wants to be anyone had been planning dates for the day, apparently they also took some time out for their perverted version of Jihad during the ‘special’ day.

God bless us all.

Re: The Shame...

I echo both your sentiments. I saw it on Geo as well. PTV of course did not even mention it yet.

It's Muslims who are the cartoons now. It's worse than what happened in Peshawar yesterday. Reserve police and rangers should have been called much earlier. I pray that Karachi governent and people will use their God given brain.

Re: The Shame...

Haris, the people celebrating Valentine's Day are not the ones rioting. In fact I would guess that the non bearded ones participating with the mullahs were angry that they did not get dates for Valentines Day.

Indian diplomatic mission stoned in Islamabad

Why attack the Indian diplomatic mission?**Indian mission stoned in Islamabad, two die in Lahore protest **

http://www.newkerala.com/news2.php?action=fullnews&id=9731

By Muhammad Najeeb, Islamabad: Four diplomatic missions here, including that of India, were stoned Tuesday by protesting the caricatures of Prophet Mohammed while two people were killed during a demonstration in Lahore.

The missions of India, Japan, Britain and Canada were stoned when a group of about 200 students forced their entry into the high-security diplomatic enclave here and attacked a branch of the Standard Chartered
No members of the staff of the Indian high commission were injured, an Indian official told IANS.

The students from different universitiesin Islamabad - who broke through riot barricades - chanted slogans against western countries as they entered the bank and broke windows at its entrance.

“The students came in small groups and gathered outside the bank,” a police official said.

Soon after they attacked the bank, policemen used tear gas](http://www.newkerala.com/news2.php?action=fullnews&id=9731#) and batons to beat back the students. Several of them were overpowered and arrested.

The police official said only a few students threw stones at the walls of the foreign missions and no damage was reported.

However, the Indian official said stones were thrown inside the high commission’s compound.

“No staff member was hurt, but people were panicked by the attack…the local security authorities were informed and the protestors were dispersed,” the official said.

Some of the stones hit the windowpanes at the high commission’s reception but there was no damage, he said.

Student leader Abdul Basit said some of the protestors mistook the Indian mission for the British High Commission, which is located next to it. “When the West has no respect for our prophet and our sentiments, why should we respect their buildings?” Basit said.

Later Tuesday evening, about 6,000 students gathered near the diplomatic enclave but were not allowed to enter the area. Police used teargas and water cannons to disperse them.

However, the students set on fire three cars and threw stones at about 20 more vehicles. The police said there were no reports of anyone being injured.

Meanwhile, reports from Lahore said two people were killed and several injured when private security guards of a branch of the Bank of America opened fire on a mob as it tried to set the bank on fire.

Re: The Shame...

this is quite terrible..especially with the bizzare comments about Edwardes college in Peshawar being called a Christian college.

Unfortunately this is a gradual result of the depoliticisation of our society thats been happening over the last decade in general and during the last 5 or 6 years in particular..by marginalising political parties, trade unions and student unions rather than regulating them and bring them into the mainstream we have a society which has no proper form of expression or outlet..the result is there is no competent leadership to control these protesters at the grassroots level. This is not the first time this has happened, it happened during Ayubs time when factories were being gheraoed and schools closed. Whats surprising is the intensity of the demonstrations in places like Islamabad and lahore..a definite worrying sign as far as law and order are concerned.

Re: The Shame…

:hehe: maybe youre right Kehkashan.

Our nation has turned into a global symbol for hypocrisy and duplicity of thought and action. There is no mild school of thought left it seems, all one sees around is extremism of one sort or another. While one section of society is over liberal in ideology the other is overly conservative so much so that they cant even draw a line between showing anger over a cartoon gone wrong and killing their own people in rage.
We are in sever need of some sort of reform…

Re: The Shame...

and what distresses me more is that schools all over the country will remain closed on Friday to mark a day of protests and on the 2nd or 3rd March MMA plans another one of their 'million marches'. Plus Qazi just mentioned smthng about another massive protest in Isl on the 19th.
God knows what they'll pull.
Just hope Allah grants wisdom to all.

Re: The Shame...

And what do these million marches now plan to achieve?

Trade bycott by arabs was a good thing but this new stupidity in pakistan is beyond me?
How will it register any protest in denmark as instead Pakistan will lose out.

The reason these cartoons were published (which people don't get) is that due to foolish attitudes, muslims aren't in power anymore. Look at jewish power (the work they put into it) and no one ever publishes cartoons about holocaust!

Re: The Shame…

so true :frowning:

Re: The Shame…

Would you quit your anti-Semitic rants blitzi? Jews in Europe have suffered for centuries now and your statements about them being powerful smacks of neo-Nazism. Just state your point about peaceful existence and move on. Why do these “enlightened Pakistanis” have to drag Jews into this? Quit being a drone-like-follower of Iranian Mullahs. I am ashamed of my fellow citizens who talk about “peaceful protests” over silly and utterly moronic cartoons.

Damn these protests that are now burning my country. Damn these Mullahs.

Re: The Shame...

Ironic, but it seems like Karachi is the only bastion of peace and stability left in Pakistan. I hope I don't jinx anything.

Daily rocket attacks in Balochistan
Anger in interior Sindh over Kalabagh Dam and NFC award
Suicide blast, clashes and general resentment in NWFP
Sectarian clashes in Northern Areas
Azad Kashmir still recovering from earthquake (natural calamity, so couldn't be helped)
Riots in Punjab over cartoons

All under Musharraf's rule.

Re: The Shame...

It was just yesterday when the video showing British soldiers beating the crap out of Iraqi teenagers made my blood boil and there was a part of me which wanted to reach out and stike those [EMAIL="b@stards"]b@stards and exact 'revenge'. I have a son who is 12years old, those boys could not have been more than 15years old, personal pain and feeling of impotency was unbearable. Yet, the human side which has been taught to us by the teachings of our Prophet protects you from going over the edge. Sadly, that cannot be said for those protesting in Islamabad or Lahore. Most of the guys protesting in Isloo were college or university boys, how should they be treated for vandalizing state property? I live in a cursed world. On the one hand there is a side in me which wants the British sooldiers to be punished, while the other wishes to teach those boys in Islamabad a lesson or two in manners and respect of public property.

Muslims may not realize it yet, but they live in extremely volatile times, pulled by opposing forces of theocracy and globalization, time which is of essence is not a luxury we can afford.

Re: The Shame…

Good thoughts. However these so called Muslims don’t give a hoot to the “extremely volatile times”. You know why?

Because these bearded and extremist terrorists are precisely the ones who have helped make our times as “extremely volatile”.

Re: The Shame...

^ Yahoodis have disproportionate power according to their population and you cannot ignore the fact.

I am saying that we should learn from them. Look at them and how they have made any holocaust discussion they don't like a crime.

Re: The Shame...

Something happens in Denmark and Pakistanis en masse stone Indian mission. How come I haven't seen a post from a Guppy defending this?

Re: The Shame...

I say burn these panc***ds who cause destruction of property, esp in the capital!

Re: The Shame...

Maulana Mini-Me will be happy to hear about these protests

Re: The Shame...

Lathi charge them, smoke bomb, bring in horses too stomp on them.. Do whetever has to be done.. I say break some teeth and give these madrasa arse holes a lesson for a life time!
