Also see Michael Moor’s Fahrenheit 9/11 on how close Americans and Saudi royal family are. Don't forget Saudis helped British to defeat Khilafat in Turkey and Saudis also helped US in both Iraq wars to kill fellow Muslims.
In general Saudi-ization minus petroleum-ization equals Tribalization.
However we must give credit to the saudi-royals for few things that may get lost in this highly charged debate.
- Saudi royals are known for not allowing women to drive cars.
BUT
we must not forget that Saudi royals have spent $billion of petro-dollars on girls schools and education.
- Saudis are known for tribalism and that is a fact.
BUT
we must not forget that Saudi royals have spent $billion of petro-dollars on water, sewage, highway system, electricity and other vital infrastructure.
What Pakistanis are learning from Saudis in the name of Islam is in reality the Biddeuan aka tribal culture that shuns modernity and adaptation to the dynamic and ever changing world.
And if you notice, tribalism disease is spread from FATA, Afghanistan, all through the Middle East and Africa, so the Saudis only should not be blamed for that.
Let's look at the tribal society of Nigeria. They are not blessed with Saudi royalty, and see how Nigeria has become a basket case even though they too have petro-dollars just like Saudis.
Thus in some ways, Saudi royals are copying the ways of educated Pakistanis (at least when it comes to education), however we the Pakistanis are copying biduen tribals who hate both Pakistani educated folks and Saudi educated folks.
Re: The Saudi-isation of Pakistan
So what is it about Islam, or muslims following Islam, that has led to this problem of mass-scale jaahaliyat? I mean, there aren't many muslim nations that are not involved in some political turmoil or other along with a million inhumane domestic problems.
Pakistan would be lucky to become like Saudi. For allof saudis faults at least its a safe and secure country. Pakistan has no law and order and people can just do as they want.
There a whole world of difference between Saudi regime and taliban. The saudis wanted their country to move forward and do believe in education whilst the Taliban dont. You can wear western clothes in saudi and its not compulsory to keep beards.
The sauidis dont let religion get in the way of money thats why they are allies of America.
Re: The Saudi-isation of Pakistan
Have you been to Saudia Arabia?
Re: The Saudi-isation of Pakistan
i look forward to you guys taking time off work to cheer the army on in their quest to mass murder pupils at private/public school. and you must do this because, as we all know, you do want to fight extremism dont you?
fight it wherever it is!
check your familly for signs of islamism, such as sympathy for afghans, fata'ans, falestinians, low motivation to support WOT etc

Law and order of Saudi Arabia is exemplary in some aspect. And that's laudable. But we must not get enamored by the things based on 30 day Umra/Haj visit.
Saudi law and order is a ditto copy of Singapore law enforcement minus the openness and innovations of Singapore.
But there are stark differences at the base. Few are listed here, but there are many more.
Saudis monarchy rules Saudi Arabia with iron hand that is pretty similar to the old despotic rule of 1000 AD with untold brutality mixed with bribes to the little tribes.
Saudi geography of flat lands and sparse population.
Each Tribe in the kingdom is subservient to the King. If a tribal ever commits anti-King act, he has nowhere to hide and nowhere to run. Saudi secret police comes and picks him and then he disappears from the face of the earth.
For Pakistan Saudi model won't work, because people will rebel in the second month. So we have to be careful comparing countries without looking at finer details.
However in Pakistan we are not copying Saudi royals and their law and order, we are copying juhala biduens who failed even the Saudi system. And that's how TAlibanic Kuffar end up bombing or schools.

That's because Saudis don't allow any Jihadi to start his own Jihad unlike Pakistan.

Because Saudis would pay Pakistan to create Talibans but are smart enough to not allow any such activity within their own brooders.

Well Saudis suffered from Jihadi disease and much before this plague spread to Pakistan. The first major Jihadi attack was in fact on Kaaba. 100's if not more people died including the Jihad leader.
Saudi and other commandos actually drilled hole in the floors of haram sharif, put the water pipes through and flooded the hide outs of Jihadis thus drowning many of them.
What a sacred way to die for Jihadis, inside the the haram sharif.
Saudis still struggle. The only thing saves Saudis is the geography and very very low population density, so Taliban there cannot hide.
In our case, we caught most of the Qaidas that tried to hide in Punjab. The only leftover Islamists mice is now mainly hiding in FATA area.
But soon they will be caught too.

Are you talking about the one in 70s? Wasn't it foreigners? Back then there wasn't much security but after that episode Saudis bumped up security all over the place (country?) and now anyone saying 'jihad' is caught and sent for interrogation (lucky people come alive out of that interrogation).
Are you talking about the one in 70s? Wasn't it foreigners? .....
What foreigners? Must be another conspiracy theory spread in the Islamists circle.
The attack was by Saudi insurgents who were unhappy with the royals, and they used the ruse of some Mehdi. Attack and capture took place on November 1979.
The same beduins later turned into Qaida, and produced dimwit leaders like UBL.

It's quite a shame that the dimwits you support haven't been able to catch or kill the mythical UBL.
But keep killing kids as your ideology teaches you to. That will help.

I remember those people being referred as Iranis/Persians, lets not accuse anyone of any circle without asking appropriate questions lest I go about and say "that must be an atheist circle news".
I remember those people being referred as Iranis/Persians, ....
What? Ehtasab what kind of stuff are you reading. You mean 500 Iranians went all the way to Makkah and captured Kaaba?
What is that conspiracy theory? You want to share it with us?
Oh bhai,
These were pakka pakkah 500 saudis. Some of them were ex-members of saudi army, their leader was the ex-student of Madina university's Grand Mufti Bin Baz. The leader's name was Juhaiman utaibi. utaibi was against girl schools too. Now you know the true tribal heritage of Talibani Kuffar.
Also one of the half-brother of UBL was also caught on charges of supplying emmo to these Jihadis in Bin Laden groups' trucks.
These guys attacked on the first day of 1400 hijri and occupied Kaaba.
If it was not for Pakistani troops brave sacrifices, the seige of Kaaba would have lasted much much longer.
It is truly surprising that you will be blaming Iranians (not that they are angels), for something done by Saudi Wahabis. Really surprising.
Re: The Saudi-isation of Pakistan
Hoodbhoy should go take some chill pill and present some real solutions for Pakistan's problems, instead of blaming everything on others and especially anything to do with Islam.
