Re: The Saudi-isation of Pakistan

saudis are no doubt ....but who is Mr hoodbhouy to protest against the implementation of islamic ideas in pakistan ?

Hoodbhouy is a scientest not a religious figure he shud limit himself to comments on neutrons and radon ....he is not qualified to comment of anything else

First of all the saudi version of islam is not puritin islam as it lacks the concept of khilafah as saudis are kings
secondly the saudi version of islam is NOT strict at all , its corrupted in itself
thirdly the "sufi " islam which Mr hoodhbouy adores was not propogated by any islamic scholars but is a mixture of some islamic beliefs with heavy infiltration of hindu ideas.
fourthly hoodbhouy CLEARLY resents the role of religion in politics and state affairs , maening he wud rather live by man-made laws than divine laws this clearly makes him a mushrik

as Noted earlier there is a world of a difference between puritannical muslims and saudis , as apart from a few laws the saudis openly violate many islamic principles.

NOTE: No name calling allowed!

Re: The Saudi-isation of Pakistan

Wait...we found a lot of oil and finally get good looking women in Pakistan. Brilliant developments I say!

You are right, I never revisited this issue and in childhood I was told they were Irani/Shiites. Thanks for the correction.

This is another "nugget" of misinformation .... the only "input" Pakistan had was that one of the attackers was from Pakistan (not surprising!!!) ... and the US embassy was torched in Islamabad ...... rest is "dadi amma te kahanni"

and here is the Indian dadi’s kahani :rotfl:

Ah … talk about living in denial …

The Book - Excerpt | The Siege of Mecca

The conspirators were prepared for linguistic problems, and wanted to be comprehended. Soon they grouped Pakistani and Indian pilgrims on one side of the mosque, with a Pakistani-born rebel interpreting the announcements in Urdu to bewildered compatriots. A cluster of Africans was provided with a speaker of English. “Sit down, sit down and listen,” Juhayman’s gunmen yelled, rifle-butting those pilgrims who dared to disobey

so did this book deny Pakistani troops involvement?

Sorry to disappoint but this book has no reference to any Pakistani troops being involved in the seige … however it is interesting that there is a reference to some “Pakistani troops” meeting Ayotullah in Iran(during transit to Haj) .. apparantely it was televised and he "praised " the Pakistani’s for “destroying” the US embassy

The Siege of Mecca: The Forgotten … - Google Book Search

Page 140 … while you are at it … please read from page 111 to page 114 on what happened in Pakistan …

Now this source is not an Indian so dont go around bashing the messanger …

While you are at it, don’t forget page 143 of same book :chai:

Here is some more … from a Pakistani … perhaps the only “non haji” in that area … still no Pakistani Army :biggthumb

Re: The Saudi-isation of Pakistan

There were two incidents. One was in 70's where a group of Saudis with someone who has declared himself Mehdi as leader took over haram sharif. They were taken out by the Saudi forces allegedly after flooding haram sharif and electrocuting perpetrators before an assault by security forces.

Then there was an incident after Iranian revolution where a bunch of Iranian hajis were involved in a riot and allegedly attacked other hajis using knifes. I don't know if they were provoked etc

Re: The Saudi-isation of Pakistan
