What about our Pakistani designers, do you think we will be seeing desi versions of the royal dress? The sleeves were my favourite part and I think could easily be transferred to a traditional lengha. What about the rest, especially the neckline and the bodice part, how can it be given a more modest/Pakistani makeover to dress a Pakistani bride? Is there also demand in Pakistan for designers to replicate the dress?
i don't think so...pakistani dresses are much more complicated and sophisticated. she looked nice in the dress and it suited her personality but i think the dress is over hyped/overrated by the media.
I think that neckline might become popular. Maybe we'll see more white (it's already become popular amongst some desi brides). I haven't seen much lace in desi bridal clothes....
I love the simplicity in her dress, which is so hard to achieve in desi dresses. And like Hareem said the dress brought out her personality, which again is almost impossible to do in desi dresses, because it's always about the pounds of kaam on a fabric, not really about the overall personality of the bride.
But I think Nilofer Shahid has a good eye for lace, cuts, and textures in wedding dresses rather than just the amount and placement of kaam.
Also, the neckline is done beautifully, and it would look great on a Pakistani bridal, if done right. It's soft and sexy and the same time, but any extra kaam would take away that softness.
The credit again goes to the original and the all time iconic dress of Grace Kelly in 50s, which was a uniquely exquisite dress. This dress for me was just another imitation of Grace Kelly's dress and frankly speaking, I've seen better replication of that dress.
But no doubt, this dress will revive the whole trend of long net sleeves in desi fashion and in the Western world, it might put the vulgar necklines for wedding dresses on a hold for some time. As Kate's dress received some serious praise for modesty, which I also appreciate.

there is nothing new or unique about the dress. yes, its nice but its not something that has nvr been seen or worn before.
Sheesh! I don't know why everyone is comparing Kate's dress to Pakistani dresses. It obviously wasn't a pakistani wedding so I think there is absolutely no comparison.
I do think that many people will take inspiration from it and create similar looks for desi outfits.
I think that she looked very elegant and regal, which is exactly how she should've appeared for a chapel wedding. Her attire was beautiful, and I especially loved how she kept everything simple and clean. Even her makeup was very natural and she looked comfortable and lovely.
it could be transformed into desi dress easily, as in pak such sleeves are already popular n farshi shraara could gv a similar look. n it will look more gorgeous when converted to desi bridal dress. :)
