The Road To Damascus...

Re: The Road To Damascus…

these rest of the pics from syria. Its been a while since i went, but what the heck…its worth it.

Remnants of fort in old damascus.

Decorations for Milaad un NAbi.

Mosque of Ommayad.

This is also known as Yazids court palace however, it was built in the 8th century and constantly under invading armies, including slahauddin’s. This where Hazrat Yaha’s (John the baptists) head was cut off by the king of the time, over a well. That well is still there and the story goes that the blood gushed out of it for years after. However at present the well mouth is is covered..

This is also the place where Imam Hussains Head was brought in, and and placed on a sliver platter and put on show. Its the place where the killers of kerbala brought Bibi Zainab, Imam sajjad, bibi sakina and women and children of the Imam. They waited in the palace for several days, while the bazaars were decorated and ppl gather inorder to view and jeer at the captives.

The pulpit from where imam sajjad gave his famous speech to yazid is till there as is the platform of yazids throne. Not only that, the narrow and suffocating bazaars that the captives were paraded through, are pretty much still in thier original form. The syrian gov. have done their best to preseve the historical sites.

Entrance from the inside of the palace.

The hall in which the well, yazids throne and the pulpit are.

This also called the minaret of Jesus as it is believed this where he (as) will return.
