The right to bear arms

Re: The right to bear arms

well maybe you need to realize - 80% of the guns used in mexican gang violence are legally purchased within the US. there are a zillion people who will buy a gun legally and “lose” it for a quick buck. nothing is traceable when it comes down to reality. the US attorney’s office lost a bunch of real awesome guns recently to gangs they were trying to trace down. check this out.

Re: The right to bear arms

If a gun bought in USA is used in Mexico, does not that make it an illegal gun in Mexico, hence proving my point that gangs and criminals use illegally obtained arms?

Re: The right to bear arms

There is no way I am keeping a gun in my home.
I think there are other ways to protect your home, such as investing in a good house alarm system. There are more cons to having a weapon at home than pros. Also if I live my life in fear then I need to get an attitude check. Yes there is a sad reality that people's homes get broken into, etc., but I could die in a car accident the next time I'm out. Doesn't mean I take extreme measures.

Live people, live! Have faith and positive expectations!

People can have the right sure.

Re: The right to bear arms

you are missing the point - criminals rely on legally obtained weapons, your average thug doesn't buy his guns from a russian arms dealer. he gets it from his neighbour who "lost" his 3rd legally bought firearm. you make it easier for people to buy guys legally, you make it that much easier for criminals to get them. i mentioned mexico because in mexico, it is almost impossible for a civilian to buy a gun. the criminals pay big money to risk smuggling legally bought american guns.

Re: The right to bear arms

I think easily available legal weapons are for civilized peoples.....

while for a killer anything is a weapon...what about baseball bat...or knives.....

Re: The right to bear arms

NIks I am not arguing that we should have a gun. I am just supporting the people who are gun owners and act responsibly.

We had 3 cases in last 2 months in State of Washington where a child got hold of a legal and loaded weapon belonged to his/her parents. IN once case, a 9 years old got shot (though thankfully survived), in other two cases, 2 kids got killed. That is the height of irresponsibility on parents part.

But in one of the couple of other cases, homeowner shot the intruder who was trying to swing a baseball bat at him.

Its like having a bottle of chlorine bleach at your house. It could clean stains but if you fail to keep it out of reach of kids, it could be dangerous.

chaloji all views me life1 ka maza lelo..........:D

Re: The right to bear arms

once its reported lost, doesn’t it become illegal weapon? :konfused:

Re: The right to bear arms

I see your point Queer but I am still not convinced. 75% of the illegal passports in 3rd world countries come from a legal owner selling his passport to a human smuggler, who changes the picture or what not to use it illegally. Does that mean that now we should strip the right of having a passport from regular citizens?

How about addictive pain killers, that get sold by real patients to a dealer? Should we stop treating patients then?

Taking legal rights away so criminals cannot take advantage of them, is unfair to the lawful public.

Re: The right to bear arms

Re: The right to bear arms

Lol, good one NH

Re: The right to bear arms

only that in later, there is no chakkar of legal or illegal ...sub legal hai :)

Re: The right to bear arms

  1. it never gets reported lost if it was bought with the sole purpose to selling it to criminals for profit.

  2. just because you call a weapon illegal doesnt mean it stops killing those that get shot with it. a gun is a gun and its out there.

Re: The right to bear arms

of course guns kill, legal or illegal but main (and big) difference is that you are almost traceable if you shot with legal gun. You have to have better reason to shot someone.

Re: The right to bear arms

Is not that amazing that Republicans who are pro-life when it comes to abortion, are also pro-guns. Am I the only one who sees this contradiction?

Re: The right to bear arms

yeh.. they love foetuses. but once born, they aren't keen on helping out the needy, or with child care programs or education or anything.

Re: The right to bear arms

I have a right to bear’s arms.

Re: The right to bear arms

It is OK to have the right to bear arms. But it is not OK to lower background check standards, sell guns in gun fairs without background chekcs (or very minimal checks) etc. The democrats are not opposed to gun ownership. They just want the background checks to have teeth (preferably brushed with Vico Vajradanthi).
