The value of human life remains unchanged, regardless of whether it was a cop or a civilian who harmed it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying DON’T defend yourself and your family. Absolutely we should defend ourselves from harm, including using lethal force if necessary. But I do believe in proportional defense. Our actions should match the harm done to us. If justice demands an eye for an eye and nothing more, why should defense of ourselves be any different?
