Mullahs are considering the calamity hitting Pakistan today and causing the death of many innocent people God’s wrath. They say it is due to our sins and “amaali badh” that such tradgedy has befallen us.

It makes one wonder, is there any limit to the crookedness and self-servience of Mullahs? Instead of boosting the morale of the affectees and the nation to withstand and fight the incidence and educating them about the phenomenon and protective measures, they are using this occassion to terrify people and arouse sinful feelings in them. Their ulterior motives are to push people into a pacifistic, fatalistic, and superstitious approach to the calamity and strengthen their bonds with the Mullahiasm, the institution of supersition/darkness.

My question to them is, the victoms also include a large number of children, women, elderly, blind, deaf, disabled, and extremely poor people who obviously are innocent. Why should God punish all these innocent people for the sin of few? How can God be so indiscriminate as not to care who suffers as a result of His punitive will? How can such a strange concept of God be entertained.

Further, if Allah is ominpotent, as the belief is, why doesn’t He send a disease, for example, that targets only the sinners instead of unleashung “a blind calamity” that affects all, the innocent and sinful alike?

Agreed, if Allah wants to punish somebody he would collapse Musharrafs GHQ, not a little girls school in Abbotabad. Why would he bring a Tsunami to Indonesia and Sri Lanka while George Bush eats Texas beef in his ranch…
No these calamities have some hidden purpose from Allah SAW, but I doubt it is punishment for those people who are already poor and suffering.

You know, this topic has come up frequently in various threads, and also in the digichat, since recently in a short time span there have been so many natural disasters…(big ones at that too).

I just wanted to share something that the Imam at our mosque shared with us today. According to him, these events are SIGNS from God. Its not necessarily a punishment, because for some people, this can be a release (for the victims, I mean). He was saying, regardless of why it happened and what the Divine Reasons were, what we should do is take it as a sign and reminder from God that Death is always near…that Death has no reason, and it doesn’t come to us after it sends some invitation. It comes when it comes, and we should live every minute of our live keeping in mind that Death might come to us any moment. We should use incidents like these at motivation - and ask ourselves are we being Good and are we being righteous, and what can we do to improve ourselves. And ask Dua for those people who have passed away.

I thought his point was really good. We can sit here and argue that it was Punishment or it wasn’t, etc etc. Regardless, and I keep saying this, is that we just don’t know…and as I realized from our Imam today…it doesn’t matter either. You just have to keep these incidents in mind.

Yeah a whole bunch of school girls died when their schools collapsed, and we ask Why???

And indeed, its normal. But why not, instead of arguing over it, try to make it a lesson that we spend as much time with our families and our children, etc as we can? You never know…tomorrow, your daughter’s school might collapse, and she might be caught in the mess.

The earthquake has caused so much destruction in terms of life that my heart weeps for the victoms. I shouldn't have posted this controversial post in the first place but my argument, and frustration with, few people pushed me do so.

Some people in my company proposed that it was the wrath of God for the sins people commit and that when earthquake starts, people should seek protection in mosque...they rather admonished few people who had ran out of mosque into open...they also said nothing can be done to avert it and people should simply supplicate to God...

When I argued with them they started looking at me as I am great "shaitan" and started behaving with me as if I am an outcaste.

Spreading such pacifism and irrationality is really harmful...

what is wrong is that they dont know whether it is the wrath of Allah or a warning or a trial. Nobody is asking them not to mention Allah, but those who say “Im not surprised” have in their minds a surety about Allah’s intentions and a vindictiveness for people they dont know or care for that is worth condemning. If everyone is entitled to an opinion, then this is mine, on theirs.

i just called someone in Paks

apparantly the mosques are full to capacity where they have been told that this happened because "Pakistan started ramadhan a day later than the rest of the world"

I was also reliably informed taht the earthquake in Bam happened because "teh year the Ayotollah died people didnt go on Haj, the performed tawaf around his grave instead...thats why God unleashed and earthquake.... on Bam"

i dont like to write these things... especially at this time.... but it made me mad!
