The Religious

Are they uptight and difficult to become friends with?

I go to the masjid, and they’re always FROWNING.

Except for the teeny boppers. Those silly girls. After namaaz, I overheard one asking the other about her boyfriend. :smack:

Re: The Religious

As with other things...some are and some aren't. I know of girls who are religious and easy to get along with...and even become friends with.....and others that behave in an off-putting way...because they're on a mission to preach...and are neither tactful nor smooth about it. Their intentions may be good, but the method not so much (do more harm than good). And I've even seen a couple that are not good at concealing their disapproval of someone that does not practice in the way they do.

Re: The Religious

but then your experience with the non religious crowd was not much different either where you went to an event and ladies would not hold a conversation. I just think there are some cultural issues in how open and inviting we are to strangers , which is sad

Re: The Religious

Oie why can't a religious girl have a boyfriend? Religious girls need some lovin' as well!

It depends on what religious is defined as. I've met practicing girls (hijabi and non-hijabi) who are fun to hang out with. As long as the more religious person doesn't judge/criticize the less religious one (and vice versa), there's no preaching, and there's mutual respect... it could result in friendship... albeit there might still be some distance due to both not attending the same type of events or feeling uncomfortable in certain environments.

As does the freakish drag queen in your avatar.

Re: The Religious

^ agree with ya soundarya!

btw this reminds me of the time I saw this girl with a nikaab...but she was wearing butt-tight jeans...and midriff type of shirt at some Uni concert

My problem...just don't wear the nikaab if rest of outfit isn't modest. By all means...wear the outfit or wear the nikaab...just not together.

I'm not judging....but sometimes I don't get it...especially when these Nikaabis frown upon those who don't wear a full covering or hijaab.

imo we should at least represent Islam consistently...so many non-muslims were asking her questions and she was being rude to them about it...and then people wonder why other people don't get "Islam."

but then again..maybe we all confuse things here and there....

You saying I deserve some lovin'? Yay! I am so using this as a pick up line.

"A recent gallup poll of desi women says I deserve some lovin' from you" :D

Re: The Religious

but i’ve always find it hard to keep a long term friendship with them… it lasts here and there…but sometimes if you say the wrong thing, like just being silly or whatever…then they are like tauba tauba and they go find a “new” person to talk to :naraz:

but w/e… I always found religion to be with Allah and yourself…can’t stand the preachy crowd

Re: The Religious

Well Monkeymirchmasala you shouldn't hit on the Imam of the mosque! :D

Re: The Religious

haha CM

you caught me! :) no jk jk

Hmm I like the masala part to my nick....

Re: The Religious

I have quite a few religious friends who get along fine with everyone. A person doesnt need to be overcritical and judgmental to show how 'pious' they themselves are. But good Islamic discussions with someone who does KNOW islam deeply, is always enriching and interesting for me. :)
A true 'momin' would not ever look down on anyone else and consider themselves 'wali' because they would fear Allah and know He doesn't like arrogance. So IMO those who act all preachy and think they are too superior to everybody else are not true to the religious spirit from inside. :)

:smack: I guess the drag queen left at the altar is going to stay as your avatar.

Use the pick up line at the drag shows.

Re: The Religious

Every one is a critic.

My Avatar stays missy, or I am getting a naked chick. What do you prefer :stuck_out_tongue:

3M I am always right. People should know that by now.

The Burqa. Just bring back the Burqa. I like her. She was interesting. It’s only been a few days, but dare I say it…I actually miss it :smack: MIAinVA concurs.

That bride you have there is an eyesore! All in favor or bringing the burqa back…say, “Aye.”

:hmmm: Would you be banned if you put up a naked chick?

“Aye.” The burqa lady was more abstract… was she taking off her burqa, doing gymnastics, etc.

Re: The Religious

I found a lot of my molvi friends very lighthearted people when talking about something other then religion and politics :D

Re: The Religious

Re: The Religious

Yup French maids. The ultimate display of love and undying affection. You ladies should be taking notes.

Lastly you lie, but it is okay. You need 1000 posts for a custom avatar.
