Lots of Punjabis claim they have Pathan ancestry and consider themselves “Punjabi Pathans” or “Pathans of Punjab.” They usually don’t speak the language or follow Pashtunwali, since their families settled in Punjab centuries ago. It’s pretty common among tribes like the Lodhis and Niazis.

There are even Indians and Bengalis who say they have Pathan roots and consider themselves Pathans of some sort.

I’ve never in my life come across anyone Bengali who says they have Pathan roots..

Isn’t that the problem though with people these days? They want a super model. I think the media and just society in general is brainwashing people with unrealistic expectations of what a spouse should look like. And no its not shallow to want to be attracted to your potential spouse, I did mention that. But for a long term commitment surely personality, character and mentality should be higher up on the priority list?

I don’t think most people want to marry a supermodel, they just want someone they’ll be physically/sexually attracted to and that’s fair enough imo.. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with giving attraction as much importance as personality and so on but obviously it shouldn’t be the absolute priority at the expense of everything else..

I don’t get why Punjabis are embarrassed to speak their own language. My whole family finds it “batameez” to speak Punjabi instead of Urdu. I deliberately speak Punjabi and use crass Punjabi words just to wind them up.

I know it’s crazy.

I’ve had it drilled into my head from a really young age - don’t marry a dark girl, you’ll have dark babies. If you have dark daughters, they’ll be difficult to marry off.

I know what I’ve been taught is hokum, yet I still see myself marrying someone light skinned like myself. Crazy right? I think I need someone to deprogram me!

From what Mr. Badabing has mentioned, I think thats his preference not discrimination but some guys I have come across, which I mentioned in my post, are doing discrimination of course which is wrong.
