now we all know how innocent and sharam-o-hayaa’ed Pakistani women all are.
but let’s say you had a sister. This question is only for boys. Your sister is found engaging in lewd behavior. Whatever you consider the threshold for lewd. She crossed it. And you caught her red-handed.
Like someone above said … sit her down talk to her ..set the records straight .. give her a chance ..
and if caught again .. take her to a higher authority .. mum .. cos usually daughters listen to their mums .. and even after the second chance .. take her to a further higher authority .. the father … cos i knw as brothers and sisters we re all scared of dad ..
however, guide and help her along the way to stop what ever the dodgy thing is hapening ..
ok i know this question wasn't directed towards girls but i couldn't resist telling my experience with this:
i have a brother who is exactly 1.5 yrs older. once, i was making fun of him just a sisterly-brotherly thing we're fooling around and i said a curseword by accident right in front of him. i was 16yrs old at the time. right after saying it, the following thoughts crossed my mind:
"oh no! this was soo bad. thank god mom or dad weren't here. i'm so embarassed."
"but...who cares? he's just my brother. he also has friends in school who swear and they're cool"
"maybe i shouldn't feel soo bad afterall cuz we're both similar in age...maybe its ok to swear in front of my friendly brother who will understand....just not my parents"
and as these thoughts were crossing my mind, a nice, loud, slap was placed right on my cheek. now honestly, if he hadn't just slapped me across the face, i would really have thought that its ok to swear in front of my brother cuz we're similar in age. however, the slap got the point across in a nice way that its not acceptable at all and i should learn to act more like a lady no matter how friendly i am with someone. now you might say thats not right and boys don't hit girls etc etc but the slap worked just as well as a long serious talk would've worked. and the talk would've been harder for my brother to have since he doesn't have as much authority over me and it would've been painful n embarassing for me to sit through it. a quick slap does the trick. it isn't as if i was permanently injured due to it. he still respects me, i know that. and funny thing my dad has NEVER hit me in my entire life but somehow it was OK and understandable that my bro felt the need to hit me for swearing in front of him. needless to say i got over that phase of swearing and being rebellious pretty quick :)
p.s. before someone goes crazy with the inequality thing, my brother has never sworn in front of me at all so i'm pretty sure he sets the same guidelines for himself as he does for me.
i'm a girl, and i guess i could really help you out in this matter as i have some info about this stuff. school friends life.
if possible mail me your issue and i can reply back on mail..
I think its very important how you choose to react in such a situation because its a delicate balance between loosing her and preserving her. i hope you do the right thing.

Sorry but how is slapping someone a nice way of explaining that something is wrong? So, if your brother had calmly explained to you that he didn't think it was appropriate for you to swear and he didn't want to hear it again you wouldn't have listened to him? If he has enough authority to slap you I'm sure he has enough authority to give you a serious talk. These things need to be explained in a reasonable, calm way...violent actions get you nowhere imo.

This is kind of my point with this thread. Is it ok to hit your sister if she does something wrong?
Inspired by another thread where a guppy made some really crude remarks of what he'd do to his sister if she was seen dancing to desi music in someone's home.
Get a set of commitments from her that it won't happen again
Edit: Wait what do you mean by lewd and threshold exactly? Everybody has different standards so for someone it would be dancing with boys for others it may be becoming a stripper.
That's exactly what I mean by your threshold for lewd behavior. Yes, for all of us, that threshold can be different, so the scenario is, she has surpassed YOUR threshold. Now what do you do?
I'll try to solve it b/w me and her by talking to her, else let my parents know and have them take it on from there. Hitting anyone in any circumstances is not right sister, wife, kids ..no one. It just shows that you dont have ability to think and speak

I cringed when I read this. I see that you have no problems with it, but that still doesn't make it right. A man should never slap a woman. It's ok when you are children playing around and push, shove, etc. but that's playground stuff. When you are teenagers and older, it should really not be done. I don't know any of my male cousins who have slapped their sisters, and if they were ever to do that, God help them because their fathers would set them right.

Yeah.
gosh the last time my brother hit me I think i was 8 or 9.....if i did something stupid, he did talk to me about it..but not hitting!
