The PIA Experience :-)

Re: The PIA Experience :-)

Well they would have to do that if there is no water in the toilet. Happened to me one time. And then there was one time when there was so much water in the bathroom that it leaked all the way out and flooded the floor. Needless to say I wasn't able to eat in the rest of the flight due to the stinky smelly floors. And then there was one time that something right above me was leaking some greesy liquid and they moved me into the business class which was nice. PIA has its bads. You just have to have your stars in the wrong places on your travel day to taste it. I can't forget the time when I was flying from NY to Karachi with a stopover in UK and the flight out of UK was more than 15 hours late and we were stranded at the airport. I have had many pleasant experiences as well. I kept going back even after many bad experiences didn't I? and not because other options weren't available.

Re: The PIA Experience

it used to be 35kg (per person) when i went last year. and when we were about to come back only five weeks later, we were told that they now allow 28kg. so we had to dump our things at the airport (what a waste of our money):grumpy::grumpy:

and now to our surprise, they are allowing only 23kg (or 25kg…gotta confirm). this is from toronto to lhr. unless their rules are different for other countries/cities.

anyways, i also heard that airlines tht go to india (i dont know whether these airlines are indian or not) are allowing THREE suitcases each with 35kg (again, dont quote my words on this as i heard this from someone else)

well i can go on and on about PIA their SH**TY service :mad:. I have horrible stories to share of not only PIA but PIA staff as well as airport staff:mad::mad::mad:.

To be honest, it actually scares me when i think of having to travel thru PIA and landing at lhr airport to deal with same b****y ppl. i wish there was another way to get to the country/city :teary1:

Does any of you guys know of any other airlines that i can take to lahore from toronto? that are not as long? (cuz i wouldnt want to spend 20+hrs to get to the country, since PIA takes about 13.5hrs)

Re: The PIA Experience :-)

The only problem with PIA I have seen other people suffer from is seats not confirmed, I personally never had a bad experience with PIA, I wish they could resume flights from Houston.

Re: The PIA Experience :-)

I've been on Jet blue, american airlines, and delta song, the worst i've been on is delta.. for a three hour flight, they'll SELL you peanuts and pringles for twice its regular price..for longer flights, they'll SELL wine and bagels and proper meals..

Re: The PIA Experience :-)

Thank God for Pak pilots.

Re: The PIA Experience

We booked our tickets in May, everytime we asked, they said 32 KG each bag. In july we left, and there was no problem whatsoever… Coming back in August, they gave us a hard time saying the rule has been changed for 6 months, they dont know how we were able to come with 32 kg.. my husband fought and argued with them that they were wrong and finally they relented, and let us pay 6000 Rs for the “extra weight” (which is better than what they were previously suggesting, to dump all the stuff and go buy a suitcase outside.. i don’t kno how they can expect us to travel on 23 kg, it sucks!!

Re: The PIA Experience :-)

Is PIA flying again to EU? I saw some news a few weeks ago that they had banned for safety reasons

Re: The PIA Experience :-)

PIA is good - no negative comments - always had nice smooth flights
Apart from PIA my other travel experience has been on a number of gora and semi gora airlines - cant peg anything to them - have experienced EXTREMES of service standards on some of the airlines more than once ... beat that :D

I would say - if you are not having a good flight - it just aint your day, maybe you woke up on the wrong side of the bed :p

Re: The PIA Experience :-)

For New York Guppies:

Can any of the New york guppies confirm whether PIA is still flying from NY to Lahore. I heard they stopped PIA from Chicago to Lahore and that the flight (this week or next week) was gonna be the last one.

If its still flying from NY to Lahore, where does it stop (Manchester?). Thanks.

Re: The PIA Experience :-)

Any PIA flight going from NY to anywhere in Pakistan, stops in Manchester.

I'm sure there are flights directly from NYC-Man-Lhr, there's always popular demand for direct flights to Lahore especially from NY.

Re: The PIA Experience :-)

The same was for Chicago (Chicago to LHR via Manchester) but they stopped, God knows for how long so I wanted to know if it was only Chicago.

Re: The PIA Experience :-)

Exact same story. We went at the end of august and came back end of sept. and until we left from here it was apparently 35 or 32 i guess and my confirmed from PIA's office in lhr even, two days prior to leaving and they STILL told us its 32 (or 35, cant remember). but at the airport, apparently rules had changed, they were asking us to pay something like 13000Rs and the stuff was just not worth that much so we dropped it =(

Re: The PIA Experience

*Went from Toronto to Karachi via direct flight. Have no complains whatsoever. Pakistanis, as per usual, tend to exaggerate things when it comes to their national airline (You would never find an Indian complaining about Air India the way we do, let me assure you of that).

P.S: The girl at the Pearson Airport PIA counter even gave away a pre-reserved window seat for somebody else to me because she apparently liked my dimples too much  .*
