Something that really confuses me...anyone care to explain to me why pork is treated like the worst sin in Islam....its weird because i know Muslims that do all kinds of things...fornicating, drinking, drugs amongst many other things...all of these are bad but arent treated as badly as pork is...Muslims who eat pork are almost frowned upon as though they have left their faith...i remember my friend saying muslims are wayward in a lot of ways but when they eat pork then you know they have really gone...
So why is pork seen as the worst sin a Muslim can commit?...or is it just Muslims where i am?...
I'd say it's just the Muslims around you. I personally don't know anyone like that.
I think it as to do with prevention. If you are raised with the thought that pork is horrible you are less likely to try it Au contraire to alchohol which can be distingiused from other drinks easily (cooked) pork cannot be distuingished from other meat that easily. So by talking about it in such away it ll make people more aware about what they are eating. i think

People dont eat it NOT because they think its worse than drinking and adultry etc.
Its something thats considered somewhat big in Islam, and is easily avoided... I mean,, eating pork doesnt sound as tempting as drinking, sex, gambling etc. So someone with even a slight bit of imaan in them would just not bother with pork, because its just simply not worth the gunah.
And maybe it gives people a slight sense of iman... thinking, 'oh atleast im not having pork'.... its that last straw of iman us sinners hang on to, because its easily avoided... so for saints and sinners alike, eating pork is kind of like the end... and when someone eats pork... we automatically think,, oh... hes so bad, hes even eats pork! hes a no hoper, hes stooped so low, he doesnt even care about something as easily avoided as pork.

when i saw the first post, i wanted to answer but it was already answered by some one on the 1st page so i thought i will explain it a bit more
but this buddy above have said it all. and i think its as closest u could get to the answer.
I am really glad to know that such issues are being discussed. Because in this modern age where muslim are being miss treated and on top of it they are not getting the right type of guidance so they can defend their selves in issues like this one. Thats a good way to spread the word, share questions and share the knowledge.
