I think it as to do with prevention. If you are raised with the thought that pork is horrible you are less likely to try it 
Au contraire to alchohol which can be distingiused from other drinks easily (cooked) pork cannot be distuingished from other meat that easily. So by talking about it in such away it ll make people more aware about what they are eating. i think
