What has bought on the obesity epidemic, why is obesity now the most common childhood disease why are the number of obese people increasing in this day and age when we are at our most knowledgeable?
Are we getting globally lazier and lazier?

**super-sizing everything and financial abundance has led us to eat more than the normal number of meals a day...mostly junk in the form of snacking.

available food quantity for many is increasing, the nutritional value is decreasing, hormones to fatten up cattle are getting in our systems, fat and sugar filled low nutritional quality fast food, packaged food is increasing, sedentary lifestyle increasing.
simple home cooked meals, sensible amount, sensible physical activity
in the end that is all that is really needed, with the exception of physical conditions such as thyroid issues, PCOS etc.

Surely governments should Ban supersizing to decrease the load of obesity related diseases on the health care system.
Also I wonder why obesity has affected North America and the UK the most yet other european countries seem not to be affected even though there is increased financial abundance?

I would say that it is because UK has adopted American fastfood and soda abuse more than other places. But then places like Greece being iso high is confusing
i read the stat that 1 in 3 children is overweight so that atleast is not just a US and UK issue now..looks like next gen in each country is going down the path that US took first and Uk second

Because we are eating lot of food, low quality food (in terms of nutrition) and we are exercising less.
We want to play tennis on Wii now instead of tennis court, we swim on XBox now instead of pool, we buy gas-powered lawn mower now instead of push mower, we drive to corner shop now to get milk instead of walking to the shop......list can go on and on..

Yeah I was discussing it as a global issue and I just stated it started in UK and USA.
And i was looking at it from all angles, why are we eating so much when so many people are dying the world!

Not relevant to Pakistan . What can we poor malnourished Pakistani folks do if Americans , Europeans , Brazilians, Portugalian are getting kha kha k motay. Can we send our troops to stop them from over eating. Allah nay unhay khushali ata key hay unkey naikion k waja say iss lee-a unka haq buntay hay kha kha k motay ho k , heart attack say marnay ka.

Obesity is emerging in Pakistan as a public health problem even as it attempts to cope with more traditional problems of undernutrition and infectious diseases. Pakistan is similar to other countries undergoing a number of transitions simultaneously, where obesity affects first urban middle-aged women; with economic development, increasing urbanization and lifestyle changes (including diet and physical activity), obesity then occurs in men and younger women28. In Pakistan, higher prevalence of the CVD risk factors high blood pressure, obesity and elevated blood cholesterol are found in the higher SES groups. This is in direct contrast to developed countries where there has been a reversal of the SES gradient with respect to CVD risk factors in the last century, and prevalence in now higher in the lower SES groups. The notable exception in Pakistan is smoking, which is inversely associated with SES25. Again, this reflects the complex and transitional nature of the country.
Using the WHO classification scheme for Asians, the prevalence of obesity in urban women 25-64 years is alarmingly high, around 40%, and is comparable to figures reported from more industrialized countries. Prevalence figures for overweight from the NHSP data were calculated using BMI ?.25. Revised calculations using the recommended lower cut-point of BMI >23 for Asians would classify a proportion of the adult Pakistani population as overweight previously considered normal weight. This implies that the health burden from overweight and obesity in Pakistan is currently underestimated.
