The New World Order

On the fateful day of sept 11, 2001 Americans were attacked and hence the war on terror began. 10 years and three wars down the track we have a even more divided and dangerous world. During these long and destructive years, thousands of people in the three countries perished and on the other hand the Americans themselves have not convicted the so called terrorists languishing in their custody for the past 10 years.

Now we have Americans entering into a strategic agreement with the afghans to allow their forces to stay there long after 2014, in Pakistan they are building amongst the worlds biggest embassies, threatening Iran of action against their nuclear program, and building the controversial missile defence shield in eastern Europe. Russians are feeling threatened by this missile shield and have threatened to carry out preemptive strikes against it, on the other hand the Americans seem to be encircling the Chinese through their bases in Afghanistan, and I am sure they want the same from Pakistan. They are increasing their presence in Asia pacific, history tells us that the Americans always need an enemy. More than the Islamists they are threatened by a rising china.

And to achieve their goals they need India as a counter balance to the Chinese on one side, and encirclement of Chinese on the other. Due to these activities the Chinese and Russians both are feeling threatened. It seems as if we are moving towards a new theater of war (10-20 years down the road).

So what should Pakistan do in the emerging scenario? I believe that Pakistan should keep its working relationship with the united states but in the meanwhile improve relationship with the region Afghanistan, China and Russia and not be a part of any conspiracy against any regional country. We have already paid a big price for American misadventures in Afghanistan since 1979. What do you guys think?

Re: The New World Order

This news is also positive and relevant, we should not get hostage to our relationship with US alone the world is very big. It will help if we improve our relationship with our neighbors (foremost), and then European union, Asia pacific etc.

Re: The New World Order

IMO India and Pakistan will and must become close working partners. Otherwise we will all be mere pawns in other's games

Re: The New World Order

we should just try to maintain good relations with every country in this region! and dont let US bully us time and time again! there is no need to cut of relations with US, because we cant afford that, but the relationship should have trust and mutual respect, which is ofcourse missing!

Thanks made the correction, I was thinking that something’s wrong there. :hmmm:

Dunya News: World:- Putin, Hu meet to counterbalance US influence…
**Putin, Hu meet to counterbalance US influence

**
Russia and China leaders met Tuesday to foster evolving partnership to counterbalance US influence.

Russian President Vladimir Putin s visit is his first to Beijing since resuming Russia s presidency earlier this month. He talked with Chinese President Hu Jintao about the crisis in Syria as well as on Iran, bilateral trade and energy cooperation, and will join a regional summit later in the week.

“Russia and China advocate for an equitable international order in which all nations work to deal with the dangers before us,” Putin told reporters after the talks and the signings of a series of political and trade agreements.

The leaders are also expected to further their dialogue on the future of Afghanistan after U.S. forces leave by the end of 2014. Both are opposed to the long-term presence of U.S. troops in Central Asia, but they re also wary of greater instability, including drug trafficking and regional terrorist threats, following a withdrawal.

Russia and China have repeatedly defied calls by the international community to confront Syria s regime over spiraling violence. Russia has long been a close ally of President Bashar Assad s regime, while Beijing opposes setting precedents that could potentially be applied to its troubled western regions of Tibet and Xinjiang.

China and Russia vetoed two U.N. Security Council resolutions which raised the threat of possible sanctions against Syria and have ruled out any Libya-style military action to protect civilians in Syria. The two also voted against a resolution Friday that condemned last month s massacre of more than 100 civilians in the cluster of villages known as Houla and called for an independent investigation.

The U.S. has pushed Russia to join international efforts for a political transition in Syria that would see Assad driven from power.

Putin, meanwhile, has sought to use Russia s burgeoning ties with Beijing as a counterweight to U.S. global predominance, and the sides have found common cause in rejecting Western calls for more open politics and respect for civil liberties.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said China and Russia both “oppose external intervention in the Syrian situation and oppose regime change by force.”

Both countries also oppose further sanctions against Iran over its suspected drive to develop nuclear weapons.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the Putin and Hu will be among leaders attending the annual summit of the six-member Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a grouping of Russia, China and four Central Asian states seeking to boost regional integration and curb Western influence.

Ties between the former Cold War rivals have warmed steadily over Putin s decade-long dominance of Russian political life. Along with close coordination in international affairs, they ve sought to boost economic ties, particularly in the energy sector, aiming to raise bilateral trade to $100 billion by 2015 from $83.5 billion last year.
“China is Russia s strategic partner. We enjoy mutually beneficial, mutually trusting, open cooperation in all fields,” Putin said.

Despite that, disputes and mistrust linger. Moscow is unhappy with China s copying of Russian fighter jets and other military hardware and the nations have wrangled for years about the price of gas to be delivered by two Siberian pipelines. Russia prefers to link gas prices to oil prices, as it does in Europe, while China wants a lower price. If Russia s OAO Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corp. can reach a deal, deliveries are to start by 2015.

Re: The New World Order

Pakistan and India should have better working relationship (free of suspicions no doubt) but on the world stage I see Indians to be part of the game, I believe we should stay away from it. We have already paid our price.

Re: The New World Order

With all due respect is Pakistan not in the USA's pocket? Pakistan has little choice in the matter, it needs to allow its territory to be used by the Americans as they wish including the constant drone strikes on Pakistani soil, or the aid Pakistan relies on will dry up.
That support will simply carry on at the American's next battle ground.

Re: The New World Order

^ Pakistan can survive as a country without US aid, if the country is managed properly it does not need handouts from anyone.

Re: The New World Order

^Properly managed? No corruption? Don't forget Zardari's still our president. And even if he were't it would take us years to put our house in order with the current state of our people's civic and social sense.

Re: The New World Order

^ it's time consuming I agree but even now how much aid is spent on the people? The aid is used up by the military or the people sitting up in the governments, under zardari I don't have that much hope by he will not stay in helm for ever. On the other hand pakistan's dependence on US alone has brought us more misery and destruction, and it's good that the government also has got that realization and hence they are trying to improve the relations of the country with Russia, china and European union.

Re: The New World Order

The military and top government officials are the ones who decide Pakistan's policies. It's a conflict of interest. On one hand they have the option to fill the coffers, on the other, face hardship and make this country a better place. As all of are politicians have limited foresight they choose the former.

Re: The New World Order

Don't forget the fact that Pakistan is surviving without foreign/US aid even now. Keep in mind the fact that of all the so called dollars that flow into the country in the form of aid, probably 10% is actually applied to the service of the public, and that too in a shoddy manner. Rest of it either goes to the defense department, debt servicing, or politicians pockets. So yes, Pakistani public can easily survive without aid, because we are already doing so.
If we stop getting aid, our defense expenses will go down, but will not weaken us to the point of getting attacked by our neighbor.
If we stop getting aid, our politicians will move back to their homes overseas, since their local income will fall drastically. Good riddance.

A corrupt government will not enjoy a rule without foreign aid, as that is the easiest way to pocket dollars.

Re: The New World Order

^The aid isn't going to stop anytime soon, cause the politicians won't refuse to take it and they won't stop giving it. Aid isn't the only way of controlling a countries affairs. We could face sanctions too. Then again Pakistan has faced sanctions before, however the risk of Pakistan losing Balochistan is too high right now. No matter who you blame, the army or foreign intervention, Pakistan is in a dangerous situation right now and we will have to take what we're offered, until we make things better.

Re: The New World Order

A proper pronunciation would be "The Jew World Order"

Re: The New World Order

That sounds scary :crying:, dont even like the sound of it

Re: The New World Order

I know its sounds stupid, but i have seen people doing big discussions regarding horrers of current affairs, are we just limited to discussions only, why cant we find solutions and bring positive change. Whenver i read these type of discussion all i do is get upset :(

Re: The New World Order

^ what else can we do? The Americans have some interests in the region, and for achieving those when they don't give any attention to Pakistani government then where do Pakistani people fit in the picture? Anyways I still believe we should try to objectively see as to what is happening around us and discuss the way we think the situation needs to be resolved. There is a good thing that there seems to be some realization in the Pakistani government (and military) too that's why they are trying to improve the relationship with regional countries.
