*In a move seen by analysts as indicative of emerging political alliances, delegations of the Muttahida Quami Movement and the Sunni Tehreek separately called on PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto on Monday and condoled with her the death of her party workers and supporters in the Oct 18 bomb attacks. According to PPP sources, Ms Bhutto appreciated the MQM gesture and said the PPP and the MQM were the parties of the middle and working classes and wanted friendly relations with neighboring countries. She also said the PPP wanted empowerment of the provinces to safeguard their rights. *The MQM delegation, led by Anwar Alam, head of the Coordination Committee, included Senior Sindh Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed, Minister Syed Shoaib Bukhari and Abdul Haseeb. This was the second meeting of the MQM with the PPP since Sunday, when its delegation met Syed Qaim Ali Shah and others at the People’s Secretariat.

There ae some reports that Altaf Hussain was told by British foreign office that any problems created by MQM for BB and his behind will be sent packing out of UK.

Either way, MQM and PPP should bury the bloody past and tackle the true evil: jihadi terrorists. That is the difference in doctrine of practicality for the sake of Pakistan as followed by MQM and the others who want to see what is under musharraf's uniform.

Very true.
It is very telling that after arriving in Pakistan BB ignored the opposition parties like PML Nawaz, ANP, MMA etc, and entertained the MQM instead at her residence in Bilawal House. That demonstrates how important she now views the MQM in any future set-up or alliance-making. Credit to both the MQM and PPP leaderships for coming together to bury old differences, and counter the new dangers from extremist lunatics.

MQM is playing a master stroke of politics. They received negative publicity after May 12 carnage. It was one sided. Most of the politicians like IK, PPP and lawyers gained publicity by playing victims.
This "alliance" should help them restore any negative feelings PPP might had for them and focus on the election. MQM had been under the lights for a while and stayed away from making any critical mistakes.
It's just politics, nothing more. In the end, they are safe. If Mush wins, they support him. If BB wins they are with her unconditionally. If IK only knew how to play politics, he would be mainstream by now.
Yup, very good and balanced analysis. As I said earlier BB entertained the MQM at her home, yet has not seen her ARD allies and such. She obviously wants to get ever closer to the MQM and distance herself from Nawaz Sharif and other opposition leaders.

For the sake of national unity, it is good to BB and MQM bringing harmony where before there was discord. :k:

Quite a learned person aren’t you Aalsi. 
I suppose at the end of the day if different countries previously at war can make peace then and move on, then why not fellow Pakistani groups like the MQM and PPP. To be honest I don’t like BB very much or Altaf at all, but I have to give them credit for burying the hatchet and moving towards reconciliation and peace amongst their respective political parties and peoples.

MQM is just a platform and there are only 3 platforms where the train of politics make stops. The other two are PPP and ML. One day a capable & educated person would embark on this train, from any of these platforms.

Both MQM and PPP despite everything does represent true populist movements, which is why PML is worried now.

Besides Jihadis etc, it would be nice to see the two parties work together in Sindh finally... Both have a significant following in the province and can make some susbstantial imrpovements if they work together, instead of against each other...
Plus, as relatively secular and moderate parties, the country really needs such parties to cooperate...
