All these years of animosity forgotten in a flash. On Geo News earlier BB was all praise for the MQM leadership and their “enlightended” policies, while the MQM spokesman said they would be even part of the welcoming committee when she lands in Karachi on 18th October.
Pakistani politics - power before principles anytime. :jhanda:
MQM praises PPP’s choice of Karachi
By Our Special Correspondent
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement, which perceives itself as a major political rival of the Pakistan People’s Party in Sindh, has welcomed PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto’s decision to return home on October 18 and land in Karachi. Party spokesman Anwer Bhai, speaking from the MQM’s international headquarters here on Friday, said the Muttahida welcomed her choice of Karachi **“Pakistan is her country and Sindh is her home, so we are happy that she is returning to her country and coming back home,” he said. He said he was conveying the sentiments of the MQM’s Rabita committee on the matter. **Answering a question, he said Altaf Hussain would return home when advised by the Rabita committee of the party. “At the moment the matter is not even under consideration,” he said. He claimed that Mr Hussain faced different kinds of threats. Elaborating, he said, the MQM chief had challenged the establishment and the feudal aristocracy and, therefore, had become the prime target of elements whose vested interests would be hurt by his return.
Reacting to MQM’s statement, Benazir Bhutto appreciated the MQM stance and said she was glad the party had welcomed her decision.
*Benazir Bhutto’s decision to return on October 18 is very significant because by that date the issue of General Musharraf’s uniform and re-election would have been probably resolved and her decision to land in Karachi is a test-case to see the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) reaction to her return because **both Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and MQM are fated to be partners in the next government in Sindh, said Daily Times Editor Najam Sethi while talking to Geo news on Friday. **
Bhutto’s PPP and Altaf Hussain’s MQM will from the next government in Sindh in which the PPP will be the senior partner while the MQM will be its junior partner.*
There is just way too much love fest in Pakistan these days. First, its BB Mushrraf & now its BB, Mush, MQM and Q-league. Dunno what to say... except 2 is company and 3 is crowd in love fest. Ok wrong analogy but u get the point. Its more like orgy now :)
I heard fazl was trying to get in as well a few weeks back, what happened there?
It seems that Fazlur Rehman flew to Jeddah straight after Nawaz was deported, ostensibly to do Umra but also to kiss upto the Saudi's as well. BB is expected to be in Saudi in some days as well, so he is still trying very much to get in there. :)

Farooq Sattar of the MQM also welcomed Bhutto’s decision to return home, adding that it was his party’s view that every Pakistani citizen has the right to live in his or her country.

politics in Pakistan is either going to change for worse or for better at this point.
the telling sign is how alert the common lot is to the character of the desiring leaders .
nation building requires, honesty and confident policy making that is followed through. but if the foundations are going to be defective, revolt will naturally pan out. hope is that it will not disintegrate the country but unifiy it.
Who is stopping Altaf Hussain? He has every right to come back. Oh darn, he is not a Pakistani citizen. He is a British national, but he is still welcome to come to Pakistan anytime, however, his survival is not guaranteed though. lol
