"The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

Prophet Muhammad (saw), said: “The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind: Their LAND is one, their WAR is one, their PEACE is one, their HONOR is one and their TRUST is one”(Imam ahmed) Remember there is NO Life or Dignity without Islam!!!

Are they who plan ill-deeds then secure that Allah will not cause the earth to swallow them, or that the doom will not come on them whence they know not ?"[an-Nahl 16:45]

smma59 Your point ???

You begin with the argument that the muslim ummah is unique, then you go ahead and blabber about american imperialism and what not..
If you want to talk about ameiran imperialism start a new topic.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

^^

For your kind information, Americans have not declared all muslims to be terrorists. Thousands of muslims are staying in US and are leading very peaceful lives. It is only the hatemongers that we all have a problem against.
Americans have never claimed to be part of the ummah or have claimed superiority over other people. They are just a country with their own faults.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

smma59: Interesting info. I would like to know more, what is your source so I can read directly.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

And if we go back hundreds of centuries when Muslims were powerful, we would have an equally long list of intervention in foreign lands and the use of violence to spread the message, dating back to the violent conquest of Arabia.

You know why Muslims are failing today as so many threads seem to be addressing? Because of the absurd notion that all Muslims belong to the same group. No group of 1 billion + people will ever unite as one people.

You are right that is a unique belief. But the position Muslims are in today is also unique - at the bottom of almost any measurable standard.

And the obsession of religion for religion's sake instead of concentrating on spritual growth and improving your position on earth instead of thinking this is some undesirable outpost on the way to an eternal pleasure land.

As said in another thread.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

Im sorry, what?

Are you terming your own viewpoint absurd then?

I’d be interested in seeing how you can prove that the position of Muslims today is at the bottom of any measurable standard without putting us all in the same group.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

^ Not that difficult of a concept really. One only needs to look at measurable standards for individual nations that have Muslim majority population. Because someone doesn't believe in the ummah concept doesn't mean that statistics can't be looked at.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

Semi, when you refer to muslims you are alreayd talking about one group of people. Being muslim is the top of the pyramid.

Now why are muslims in such dire straits is more than a one liner. And it is not only associated with just them not practicing their religion, if someone said muslims have developed a habit of blaming others for their failures then it is quite true but not unfounded. International circumstances for muslims have been created such that it will ensure their failure for a long time to come from a political perspective. All major global decision making bodies constitute non-muslim countries and a good reason for that is because they have been constructed or carved out of the downfall of the last muslim empire i.e. Ottoman empire.

In my opinion muslims for now should just concentrate of strengthening their Eman (for character building) and explore and propagate educational avenues. For technological evolution and industrialization comes from raising the bar on education. What they should not do for now is pick fights they cannot afford.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

What pyramid?

Now that is just a cop out. Other countries have been decimated by war in the past century and now lead the world - and none of them needed a vast empire or united with every other follower of their religion to be successful. Most things to improve your lot can be done within a country and does not require a global decision making body.

Agreed.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

smma, what exactly is this doing in religion for, what are you trying to discuss? I dont get it.

lame thread

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

Meaning everything that descends from the top of the pyramid is part of the pyramid down under. The word muslim is the top of the pyramid.

Semi, I think the past two world wars were fought by huge empires if you have forgotten. I think you misunderstood my point. The present day muslim countries all came under foreign rule after the two world wars or the decimation of the Ottoman empire. When the League of Nations was formed all these muslim countries did not even exist or infant states. Hence the UN power distribution all fell into the hands of non-muslim countries i.e. Russia, USA, France, Britain, Germany and China. Now this medley has Christians, Communist in it. You can argue there are no hindus and jews in it however muslim represent a far greater majority of the world population and geography and should have a say in world politics and decision making.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

Could we be any more subjective?

The past 2 world wars were fought between many nation states. I understand Muslims are not involved in the UN power distribution, but really, what power do they wield? Surely you don't suggest a lack of a leadership role in the UN is the reason for the plight of the economies, education and standards of living in Muslim countries? If Muslims could work well with others, adopt modern economic principles and put notions about being on top of the pyramid aside, they could improve their lot without a seat on the Security Council.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

Well what modern economic principles are you refering to? Who is it that muslims do not work well with.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

on what basis are you grouping statistics together? you cannot say the same things about Malaysia that you can say about saudi arab, as you could say about Pakistan and they would each fare differently in different statistics.

you deliberately group Muslims together to argue one point, and at the same time argue that Muslims should group themselves together? are we a united Muslim bloc only for outsiders then? if you are to gauge our perforamance on the basis of us being a single entity anyway, we could just as well live upto the way others see us if it is to our benefit.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

Muslims group themselves together and like to think of themselves as a single entity. You cannot extrapolate that by looking at the plight of Muslim majority countries statistically is the same thing.

One could also look at northern hemisphere countries, Christian majority countries, African nations, etc statistically, it doesn't mean one considers them a single entity or united block.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

I dont understand your second sentence.

Statistics reflect practicality. Muslims are not one Ummah in any way that would affect statistics, and you cannot point to any significant actions taken by all Muslim countries together that would influence those statistics (presuming those are education, science, poverty level etc) . To argue the ummah concept is wrong using statistics that dont reflect the Ummah (since it doesnt exist in practice) but a grouping of individual countries is misleading.

Re: "The Muslim Ummah is a unique ummah among the whole of mankind:

Muslim Ummah is an oxymoron and exists inside the heads of a few crazy mullahs who DON'T tell you how ETHNOCENTRIC the rest of the muslims, from to Afghans to the Arabs, who LOOK DOWN AT US, are, and who wouldnt EVER want to associate with you in any form!
