Whats the most useless (and useful) appliance for you?

its kinda funny, i’ve seen many aunties never use their dishwashers or ovens for their purpose , except maybe to store dishes. :smiley:
so whats your useless/useful appliance?

When we had our kitchen done last Summer, we got a built in dishwasher, and we still have not used it. Not even to test it out:vivo:

I am a firm believer in dishwashers.

My mom isnt. So, in our home…the dishwasher is used the least. SHe will wash the dishes and put them in the dishwasher but wont use it. :hehe:

^ I have seen almost every single desi aunty do that, including my mother and MIL. seems the older generation doesnt believe in them.

Deep fryer. It uses up so much oil that you have to change frequently (which is such a waste) and it's much faster doing everything in a wok (it heats up faster too)!

rice cooker.......... its difficult to clean so its closed since i bought it......... i m using only its measuring cup for other things...........

My aunt had her kitchen done last year and she hasn’t ever used the dishwasher she thinks it will cost more to run, with the water and electricity bill. so instead they use it to store all the kids food like crisps biscuits etc. I went to their house a few weeks ago and my cousin asked if I wanted some crisp so she goes to open the dishwasher and I was like “oh u got a dishwasher I never knew tht” she opens it and its full of all this food hahaha it was hilarious. I thought she was the only person who did tht

it has to be dishwasher.. I dun use it for a few reasons

  1. I can never let any plate or por or pan sit unclean.. I have to wash things as I use them
  2. we are only two people at home so even after lunch/dinner we don’t have much to wash
  3. I have a very small kitchen so storage is a huge problem.. I store big pots in dishwasher
  4. I LOVE doing dishes.. I LOVE playing with foam and water.. how can I let the dishwasher do what I enjoy the most.. now I wish dishwasher could cook :hinna:

OMG, dishwasher, seriously??? We've been using dishwashers in our household for the past 18 years. I honestly can't imagine being without it. There was a total of a year and a half in between (when I first got married) that I didn't have a dishwasher, and I thought it was extremely difficult not having one. Not that I didn't enjoy doing the dishes (it sometimes can be very calming), but since I have to have the sink clean and empty at all times, it was a little too difficult to always wash dishes right after each use.

For me, I think it would have to be the deep fryer. It has got to be your biggest enemy (health wise.)

Rice cooker, never even taken it out of the box…am thinking of just selling it on craigslist..wonder how much can I get for it :hmmm:

yeah so it gets used just then :)
i dont eat puris anyway so it is used even less.

icecream maker ..too much work to make.
