oh let's not forget muscat airport. that's just a dhabba on airport's name. more like a bus station than an airport. plus the passengers act exactly like they're at a bus station. all the dhakkays and stuff.
compared to that, the bahrain airport was more civilized, even though it was like half of the size of muscat.
haha yeah that design is horrendous! For a city that’s supposed to bail out Dubai out of its debts and failures, Abu Dhabi’s airport isnt much. There is a duty free shop downstairs where I found ALOT of the candy, including all the aero bars to be way past the expiration. However, there is a really nice coffee shop upstairs with a nice place to sit down though but be warned they only accept local currency and no plastic. If you have a few hours to kill, there is free Wifi. Dubai’s airport is much nicer.
Paris -CDG has to be the worst. Down right racist....and what's with not speaking English ??
That's the French for ya... ask me, I should know - I interact with the French daily... that too in a country where English is pretty much the first language, but French don't accept it.
Anyways, coming back to the topic, the following airports are annoying due to a multitude of reasons:
Frankfurt
Muscat
Heathrow
Toronto Pearson
Boston Logan
Out of all airport experiences, I've found Dubai to be among the better ones.
They understand English.. I know they do.. When you talk English to them.. They’ll reply in French.. They just dont WANT to speak English.. They refuse it..
Once there was this Pakistani guy on the same flight as me and at the airport they started asking him about some stuff he had in his suitcase.. in French ofcourse.. This guy was so sick and tired.. they just didnt WANT to speak English.. so he started talking Punjabi to them.. (that was a hilarious scene.. to see the expressions on their faces.. ) Finally they started speaking English (a few lines though) and then… French again.. (ofcouse..)
I also dont like Heathrow.. Been there many times.. I dont know but I think they’re kinda rude over there.. Doesnt feel good at all..
Awww
calgary airport is quite polite. i also like lahore’s one. in few mins u r out. no lengthy walks. only crowd n those cart pushers bug ppl but now officers stay around n save u from them.
Karachi airport, because when you arrive the jackass customs ppl act like you are some smuggler extraordinaire and just ask stupid questions and annoy you but the goal is just to get some baksheesh, freelance helpers attack you as soon as you leave the airport and while I feel for the poverty and the tough life people have, 10 ppl 'helping' me by having their hands on my cart is of no use, and I am more than willing to pay a fair wage for someone who pushes my cart and loads the suitcase in the car, but the demands seem to be very high.
departiung from the same airport, same mess, stupid questions about stuff that I am taking, bs delays, and blatant open asking for bribes, used to be some airport fee, i would be asked more than the amount, forget about getting change.
I cant stand majority of airports in middle east, abu dhabi, bahrain, doha just annoying, inefficient, illconceived, and not comfortable in general.
frankfurt is another annoying airport.
and last but not the least. JFK.
I would gladly pay more to land at Newark or come to chicago directly. its less of an airport issue even though I find the airport dirty, but its the ppl working there.
So true about Karachi airport!
LGA is more annoying than JFK because there is less space and parking is too congested.
I've been to O'hare couple of time. I think its pretty nice airport compared to JFK or LGA.
London Heathrow nowadays the majority of passengers **don't **have to take their shoes off, I've flown out of there three times in the last couple of months and at the screening machines they were just looking down at the passengers shoes then making the decision if they had to remove them or not..
Wow Mabrook, that is mad, defo lately they haven't been quite so strict. I was there just three weeks ago and there was a flight going to India at the same time I was leaving so I thought they might be more vigilant but hardly any of those passengers were being asked to take their shoes off. I was wearing a hat and they didn't ask me to remove that either.
