Re: The Moghul Empire
^^ I think Taimur was great grand father of Zaheer uddin Baber, Taimur Passed on his Kingdom to his Son ShahRukh ,which at that was comprised of almost all the central Asia, Parts of Middle East and South Asia...
ShahRukh's Son Father of Baber lost most of it and was limited to some central Asia, I red some where that he was found of Pigeons and was died because of it...
Baber was thrown out of central Asia and he came down to Afghanistan, where with the help of pathans, he invaded India and founded the Moghal Empire on the left overs of Lodhi Kingdom of India...
My two cents
^^ Right...........
"In the month of Ramadan of the year 899(June 1494) and in the twelfth year of my age, I became ruler in the country of Farghana."
This is how Zaheer ud din Mohammad Babar started his dairy ....i.e Babar Nama.......

Re: The Moghul Empire
Hi all... some additional information:
The Mughals brought many changes to India:
Centralised government which brought together many smaller kingdoms
Delegated government with respect for human rights
Persian art and culture
Persian language mixed with Arabic and Hindi to create Urdu
Periods of great religious tolerance
A style of architecture (e.g. the Taj Mahal)
A system of education that took account of pupils' needs and culture
Re: The Moghul Empire
^No Not at all.All these things were taught to you by your Pakistani syllabus.
But on the other hand,Mughal Rule divided India to the maximum.Religious tolerance was never in sight barring a few Mughal emperors or rulers and the religious intolerance was the instrumental factor in the collapse of the Mughal empire.
It never had any impact on education. But on the other hand it almost destroyed the indigenous education syetem in India.
Architecture and art,yes Mughals gave a great contrubution but on all other fronts it was a total detrimential for India.
Mughal system inflicted a huge financial debacle on India and it's social equilibrium.
Re: The Moghul Empire
Hi Arleitter Im sorry but this is in actual fact not a Pakstani syllabus- its actually derived from A British source -also:
Muslims in India
There had been Muslims in India long before the Mughals. The first Muslims arrived in the 8th century.
Ahmedabads Jama Masjid (Grand Mosque) was built in the 15th century in Gujarat
In the first half of the 10th century a Muslim ruler of Afghanistan invaded the Punjab 11 times, without much political success, but taking away a great deal of loot.
A more successful invasion came at the end of the 12th century. This eventually led to the formation of the Delhi Sultanate.
A later Muslim invasion in 1398 devastated the city of Delhi.
The Mughal Empire grew out of descendants of the Mongol Empire who were living in Turkestan in the 15th century. They had become Muslims and assimilated the culture of the Middle East, while keeping elements of their Far Eastern roots.
They also retained the great military skill and cunning of their Mongol ancestors, and were among the first Western military leaders to guns.

what a joke. stop listening to RSS and VHP for your history lessons. under the mughals, india's GDP was almost a third of the world. religious tolerance wasn't much of an issue even under Aurangazeb (the sikhs probably are the only ones who have a just case to make in this regard). destroyed indigenous education system? what education system? mughals sure as hell did not impose any compulsory educational systems on india or interfere in such detail.
however the Brits did do all you blame the mughals of. divide and rule was an official policy. social fragmentation along ethnic, linguistic and religious lines was state policy. indigenous education system was replaced by a system to churn out clerks for the crown. native industries were destroyed to make way for whatever product was fashionable in europe. the local economy was wrecked and india was taken from riches to rags.
if anything, mughals, especially Akbar, has greatly defined the tone of modern India. much of our national conscience is from ideas of this era.

I agree with all these, but they are not direct responses to my statement.
Let me add one more info. The first mosque in the Indian region was built in the first century and it was at a place called Kodungalloor, kerala and this mosque still remians there.
Re: The Moghul Empire
Mughal rule was a total destructive one for India in terms of its Religious tolerance, education and it's economic arena.
Mughal rulers especially Aurangazib was infamous for his Hindu hatred and he deliberately wanted Hindus out of all Government and related affairs.Mughal leaders barring Akbar and a few imposed all fianacial burdens on Hindus inlcuding Jaziya.Their religiois intolerance paved way for their destruction.
(Aurangazib had a military leader who was a hindu ,Mr.Raja Jai Singh, and we all know what happened to him in the end and what order this ogrish Mughal ruler passed on Hindu temples in Mughal empire after Mr.Jaisingh's death.)
Who can forget the atrocities committed on Hindus and Sikhs by Aurangazib?
Apart from Mughals the only suffering Hindus had to endure was from Portugese and thanks to brilliant Dutch works that pushed Portugese to Goa ,Daman and Diu.
Barring a few,Mughal dynasty was a dark period in Indian history.
Re: The Moghul Empire
^not true at all.
stop repeating yourself unless you have something to back your claims up with.
Re: The Moghul Empire
Had there been no rulers like Sivaji,Sambaji,Rajaram and Tarabai, Indian History , the course of modern India and the fate of its people would have been different. Thanks to some of the splendid offensives and victories they scored against Mughals :)
Re: The Moghul Empire
hey guys .. if u dont mind but the original question posted by NISIK was : Who was the first and the last in the moghul regime? Please mention all emperors and any significant events during their time. This should be a comprehensive history lesson.
This is not a battle of whose best- its simply information sharing......thank you...
i can’t remember one contribution of sivaji’s to india. at best, he was a small maratha rebel who capitalized on a power vacuum for a brief period, before the afghans - baba ahmed shah durrani if i am not mistaken, annihilated his puny defences and sent the marathas racing back to their hills. not worth the comparison alongside the mughals. the rest of the people on your list - who are they? VHP leaders? ![]()
